Very convincing. Makes me completely want to put myself under government control. Please take me to where you can make me unconscious and naked.

Or do they just float in space like idiots until somebody burns a command card or something to tell them to move to a sector and engage.

That would be an affirmative. The cylon ships move according to card draws, and then according to flow chart of options. The RSVs move only if one of us actually goes to the CAG location (or whatever it's called, I'm at work) and burns an action controlling them. And even then they don't do it particularly well.

What they can do is slow the raiders down, because raiders must attack them before they can leave a sector, or attack any civilian ships in the same sector. That's why I had suggested Baltar move the civilian ships into sector five -- now if the raiders get past me, they will then have to take the extra step of shooting down the RSV BEFORE they can attack the civilian ships.

But to answer your first question, we've been beaten by card draw here -- they have gotten to move consecutively, so they got the jump on me. There is nothing we can do at this point to prevent that from happening. If I get lucky, they miss. If not, we lose a viper and I get 1 card on my next turn (instead of five).

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Yes! It's a blast (except the Napoleon map. For whatever reason, it bugs me).

Okay...how do I get started? Do I just join a game?

We could invite you to a game. NoiseDesign, SeanK, and I are all in there. I'm OmnisAudis (no underscore between the two words). Feel free to friend me, send me a note, or whatever that place does (I'm still new) and we can get a game going and invite you. We can start with a classic map, just so you get refamiliar with the game, or we can go with a different map.

There are some choices for each game. Kind of like house rules. Things like spoils (turning in cards), do they go up (escalating) with each trade in? Stay the same? or no spoils? Reinforcements. Can you only move troops to adjacent properties, or span across connecting ones? One troop movement, or as many as you want. There are some other "house rules" regarding game type (Terminator and others). I'm still figuring those out.

C'mon in. Best way to learn is by doing.

Time for the die roll. On a 5 or less, you lose 1 Fuel.

Result: 3! Lose 1 Fuel.

Next, the three raiders activate and attack Apollo.

Raider 1: 5. Viper damaged.

Ok, before we go on to the other raiders, we need to pause to see if either of the two pilots (who've drawn red cards) which to play an interrupt (Evasive Manoeuvres) to force a reroll.

I have a red (1) card with evasive maneuvers. that says to reduce by 2. If that helps, I'll burn in for the CAG.

I do not have an evasive maneuver card. Nor do I have an evasive manoeuvre card, for that matter. Like I said, my odds of surviving this encounter are slim to none, but getting whacked by the first cylon raider means that not only will I wind up in the sickbay, but the two remaining cylon raiders will move into sector 4, which is pretty close to the civilian ships.

Red cards are generally useless for meeting crisis challenges, so burning it here makes sense, but you may be the only pilot out here for at least a turn if I get whacked, and I think you are running low on red cards yourself.

we do have those oh so useful RSV if anyone riding a desk will order them to fight. In the mean time, the card is yours to save you a little bit. May the gods smile on you, and make the other two, drunken nugget toasters.

Boomer plays Red-1: Evasive manoeuvre. Reroll:

Attack 1: 3 - 2 = 1. Miss.
Attack 2: 7. Viper damaged (again). Once again, are there any EM interrupts? (Apollo has already disavowed having any, so it's just Boomer to play or pass.)

Frak! C'mon Apollo! Do you have your hand on the wrong joystick down there or something??? Dodge and weave brother!!

Even if I play my last Evasive Maneuvers card, it only drops it to a 5, which is still damaged, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't seem worth burning the card, right? Except that maybe it keeps all 3 cylons in that sector, thus protecting the civvies, right? Let me know. I'm willing to burn it if it helps. If not, then see ya in sick bay Apollo.

If he does have his hand on the wrong joystick, your orders could see him in Sickbay either way.

An EM card forces the attack to be rerolled, so I'd roll again, but this time with only a 25% chance of damaging Apollo's Viper, and no chance of destroying it.

Of course, there's a third Raider waiting too. If you make him attack too, though, it means he can't move to Sector 5 this turn.
