You never know if a girl's gonna say 'yes', or if she's gonna laugh in your face and pull out your still-beating heart and crush it into the ground with her heel.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Long rant ahead, feel free to skip.

So the guy who's painting our house and coordinating the landscaping was supposed to start in November. But he broke his foot or something, then went to the UK or something, then... I don't even know, but he would call every month or two and give a vague excuse as to why he never showed up, then promise to start in the next week or two, then repeat the cycle. So about a month ago he says he'll be up on Saturday, asks when he should come, refuses to suggest a time, then teases me about sleeping late when I suggest noon. And then he DOESN'T SHOW UP. So, whatever, having him painting will be a huge disruption, I don't mind him not doing it, but the not showing up is annoying. Then he calls the next Saturday around 9 and says he'll be there in twenty minutes, shows up an hour and a half later. Plans to start painting on Wednesday so he'll have a room done by the time my father got here on Sunday. Showed up on Saturday (the day before my dad got here), dropped stuff off. Met with my father while he was here, arranged to start painting this coming Monday. So this morning I'm lying in bed reading, luxuriating in the Saturday-morning lie-in, when there's a KNOCK ON THE DOOR. He's shown up with the landscaper to show him around the property (keep in mind that most of the house, including my bedroom, has floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto the property, with no curtains). I mean, thank god he knocked, but what the hell is wrong with this guy? He couldn't have fucking CALLED?

Don't worry, I'll have a word with him. But seriously, what the fuck? Has he no sense of common courtesy?

Em, no, it really doesn't sound like he has a clue. I hope nobody has paid him money yet...

So I'm in my hometown for the weekend. I managed to put off seeing my parents until now (trying to get up to their place on a weeknight after all day training sounded tortorous enough BEFORE you add dinner with the parents to it!). I think my mom and I are going ot go see "Forgetting Sarah Marshall". It sounded easier to see with her than anything at the Film Festival, which was a choice between Rwandan genocide, the "madcap" adventures of Roma men roadtripping through Slovakia, or some Mexican telenovela...

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

FYI Sarah Marshall has full-frontal male nudity.

Break that fever Kristin! Kill it!

Emily I so hope it's not too late to break your contract with the painting asshat. He sounds like the sort who will end up costing you more money in the long run to fix the crappy job he may never actually end up doing.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Emily, find someone else. This guy is only going to give you more headaches.

This has been a semi-productive Monday so far. We have figured out which oil company we want to go with for the new place, called the landlord to find out if he is going to change the locks this week, made a phone call about a portable dishwasher, decided which day would work best for the move, and now I am trying to clean out the closet of doom.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

When I've had bad illness, kristin, the fever often breaks a few times before it really goes. Be patient if you can, you will get better.

It seems to be leisurely garden day. I was out for a bit - I'm going out again soon, then I'll be back in. DH is off with his tribe ( the guitar) people so I'm doing things at my pace.

The status is NOT quo.

Thanks, beth. I need to remember that. It's been a long time since I've been this sick, and I'm very impatient for it to GO AWAY.

Kristin I'm thinking of you in a blue light with germs running away from you in terror.

Flee germs flee!

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Damn--MiL just called. they were on their way down for big Passover dinner and our FiL passed out. They were on their way to the nearest hospital (about an hour away from here) so we don't know anything yet. He has had some pretty serious health issues lately, so this is worrying. DH has gone up there and I am in charge of fielding phone calls and am prepping to drive up there as soon as we know anything. Some -ma that it turns out to be something easily fixable, please.
