Yeah, the phrase "Trust in Joss"? Also makes me cringe.
Seriously. Didn't he write "Spiral"?
[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath. Oh, and help us get Terriers dvds!

I've no idea if he's aware of the ick. Whether he is or not doesn't make the ick go away. Even if it's from a, "this is a horrible thing that's happening, and I will show you it" point of view, it sounds like NO FUN. And ick.
It hits the same sort of head explodey nerve as time paradoxy things for me.
I'm looking forward to Dollhouse. Great cast and I know Joss isn't going to do a show that is degrading to women. I may not like the show, but I highly doubt it'll be because it's offensive.

HA! and you have nailed my issue with The Inside, too.

Kinda like The Inside, I guess.
I don't know. It's seemed to me that the whole thing hinges on the idea that what's happening is wrong, and that's why we're following along as someone inside wakes up to the what's happening to her, counterpointed by someone on the outside convinced of it and trying to hammer their way in.
Otherwise, what's the point?
Which is all aside from how well it will be addressed.
If it is like the Inside then that is even better. Everything doesn't need to be Pushing Daisies although I do love Pushing Daisies.
I'm pretty sure Ultimate Drew wrote Spiral. Or maybe Steve DeKnight? Not Joss, anyway.
Anyway, I really don't want to get into a discussion of what I think about Joss' feminist credentials, so I think I'd better step away from this thread for a while.

Characters who I like can go a long way. Because every. single. character. on The Inside was loathesome and joyless. I don't want to watch an icky situation with icky characters, y'know?
The premise of BTVS (and Angel) wasn't icky. Dollhouse has real ick potential, but it could be done well.
Tamara points out exactly what is lovely about the diversity of humanity! I think the premise of Dollhouse is icky (and I hated The Inside [sorry, Tim]). It just wasn't TV for me, which is fine. There is plenty of TV that I don't feel the love on.
Oddly, I did LOVE Alias, though. Pretty people in fun costumes and wigs and things go boom! It wasn't great TV though.
De Knight, I think.
My Trust in Joss is limited to trusting that there are other people out there who would probably do it worse.
