.. and even Martha. Given the right story and, of course, actor availability -- and I still can't help but suspect Martha and Mickey weren't used because RTD didn't want them in this story -- I don't see any reason why a new Torchwood couldn't be up and running very quickly.
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
upthread, someone said Martha (the actress) wasn't available for CoE.
I still can't help but suspect Martha and Mickey weren't used because RTD didn't want them in this story
What LeN said. Freema was already previously spoken for by L&O:UK. I can see Micky's deliberate omission though.
Mickey and Doris and Gwen as the leader.
I'm a masochist because I just watched Exit Wounds (finally!) It was so hard to watch that last scene with Gwen, Jack and Ianto in the hub.
But, in the scene at the police station where Gwen is giving the marching orders to the other officers...she's a leader and even Rhys know it.
They could build a show around her. Having a baby will complicate but there are babysitters and they will need a new HQ, but it's doable.
I know RTD loves Eve Myles, but unless they're putting John Barrowman on Dr. Who I can't see them going forward on Torchwood without him.
I could definitely see Jack showing up halfway through the premiere and Gwen being excited to see him, but she's got a team and a hub set up and they're doing ok, and it'd be like whichever season of Angel...where Gunn and Wes and Cordy were doing Angel Investigations without Angel, only (probably) with it going more or less just fine.
Season 2.
And they opened Season 2 of Torchwood like that too - didn't they?
More or less, yeah. He'd been gone. I think it would be a bit different if it were a whole new team, though.
Just finished re-watchiing CoE Day Four and...I still cannot believe that somebody, Ianto or Gwen or somebody didn't smack Jack in the face with a shovel for his "plan".
"Really? All this work, all this convincing office temps to commit treason and stealing cars and computers and getting you your damn coat and all this time and effort and your plan, when we get right down to it, is 'Go away or we'll be mad!' You didn't have, like, anything to back that up? Nothing? Not a thing. So...you're fucking stupid. Right? I mean...just fucking stupid."
In my head I re-wrote Ianto's death scene so that when Jack's cradling his head and Ianto asks...
Ianto: It was good, yeah?
Jack: Yeah.
Ianto: WRONG! You got me killed for NOTHING you stupid jackhole! You unbelievably egotistical douchenozzle! *cough cough*. You know what? That thing you did with your tongue? My girlfriend did it better...while she was a cyberwoman! Fuck you, Captain Jack!" *dies*
Jack: O...kay. So...quick funeral for you, suit boy!
unless they're putting John Barrowman on Dr. Who I can't see them going forward on Torchwood without him.
Yeah, I thought Torchwood was a vehicle to continue Cap. Jack Harkness's story.
