A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Torchwood: Okay, so I've been watching the 5-part CoE (I'm only about 20 min in at this posting) and I have this comment:
If someone wanted me to disappear 10% of the population - for any reason - I think I would quit my job, or start battle plans to fight. I actually think this is worth losing life over. Whose to say the aliens won't be back for the rest of the 90%? For example, I'm reasonably sure given what we learned about why the aliens wanted the children, that we could manufacture that which the aliens liked. Since I haven't seen the rest of the program, my comments might be ridiculous.
I don't understand why this wasn't part of the discussion and narrative in Parts 3 or 4.
Despite our flaws, human beings have a solid resistance streak, especially when things get so dire. We needed to see more of that.
Minute 37:
the neighborhood resistance is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about nuclear missiles and shit.
Torchwood:
The narrative was deeply flawed for me. I agree with le nubian that all other options were rejected too easily. The problem for me is that I was so unsatisfied with the series that my best option is to hold dear the series that I loved and pretend
this never happened.
Finally watched Warehouse 13. Good fun. Looking forward to more. Ignoring the stupid name change of the network.
Minute: 48
Um.
That was some really really dark shit. If you had to use a child, are you telling me that they couldn't have chosen, a terminal child from a hospital or someone else? Yes, they were short on time, but they could have gotten another child there in 10 minutes. I mean, what the fuck?
I just watched Torchwood Declassified - which I guess will be on the DVD.
So, the creator claims that Captain Jack has more children, and likely has "hundreds." This revelation softens the ending of Part 5 some, but inexplicably.
Oh, good, LeN. Tell me
if I hated the mini, do I want to watch the Declassified? Will it just make me angry?
I think you should watch it. Note: It has HUGE spoilers, not for anyone who hasn't seen the 5-parter.
It actually gave me better closure. I'm not sure you will feel any better about the mini, but I don't feel as depressed, if that makes any sense. There is a very nice montage for Ianto, for example that I appreciated.
I've decided that it really makes me feel good when creative people are proud of the work they have accomplished, even if I might disagree with the result.
Note: Declassified is 30 minutes.
Dana,
(off-topic)
I am reading The Tin Roof Blowdown by James Lee Burke which essentially is a murder mystery set in New Orleans right after Katrina.
If you are interested in such things, I think you'd like the book. It seems to be pretty scathing in general.
Me too. I thought him wanting to have time in his box was like time in his room. I hope we weren't telling the character goodbye. If he is DOD property though, I guess they wouldn't just let him go.
I think that it would be funny if each week featured Andy doing some different wacky job in Eureka. Like one week working at Cafe Diem, but getting fired because he refused to serve unhealthy food.
