A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I think I'll wait and see how the ratings are and how many of my friends are watching and talking about it.
We got home too late to watch, but it seemed a good plan to wait and see what the thoughts were about it first anyway. I can't say I need another show to watch.
SyFy? SY-fucking FY?????
Sometimes rebranding can go too far. This is one of those times.
I seriously hope they open the bar before the upfronts presentation tonight, because if I have to keep a straight face while being told:
“We couldn’t own Sci Fi; it’s a genre,” said Bonnie Hammer, the former president of Sci Fi who became the president of NBC Universal Cable Entertainment and Universal Cable Productions. “But we can own Syfy.”
...I will need a VERY stiff drink.
Jessica,
I was just coming to post that.
Wow.
Just wishing I'd thought of buying syfy.com, because I could have made Big Money selling it to them. Ah well.
That person is an incredibly stupid texter, in that case.
I'm assuming they are doing it so they can later claim they are not just a "Science fiction" channel and have *more* of the odd non SF&F programs added to the schedule.
That's pretty much what David Howe says here:
“If you ask people their default perceptions of Sci Fi, they list space, aliens and the future,” he added. “That didn’t capture the full landscape of fantasy entertainment: the paranormal, the supernatural, action and adventure, superheroes.”
and changing the name will accomplish this?
as a person who watches the channel regularly (although it will be less so after BSG), I am more irritated by the name change. I'm not sure this will bring a lot of kids to the channel who wouldn't have already been interested.
It's like if TNT changes its name to teeny.
