Yes, I agree that Olive really gets short shrift, and really is awesome. I loved the way that Olive and Chuck eventually became friends, regardless of their feelings for Ned. A mighty yay for girly bonding in black leather catsuits, rather than having pouty catfights.
Still watching Season 4 of SGA, and I've reached the Teal'c (?sp?)-comes-to-Atlantis ep.
I'm finding it difficult to watch. Sam has just said "Hey, this is Teal'c, and you guys have so much in common!" or words to that effect, which has left me staring blankly at the screen.
Teal'c and Teyla? Have quite a lot in common. Philosophically, in terms of dispositions, and in terms of leadership roles. Ronon and Teal'c...well, okay, yes, both are professional soldiers who've dedicated their lives to fighting tooth and nail against galaxy-conquering ubermonsters. Um. But that description is true of many, if not most, characters in the Stargate universe.
Difficult not to hear that as "You're the token muscle-bound warriors-of-colour, kind of like Man Friday in Space! And, hey, Teyla and I have lots in common too! Because we're the token girls in our respective teams!"
Which is just very disappointing after watching Trio.
The way that Ronon's reaction to the introduction is, unaccountably, all Clueless Caveman With No Social Skills is making me want to leave the room in embarrassment. Unless he's hearing Sam's Musclebound-Man-Friday schtick and feeling patronised, but in that case I'd expect him to be rude to her.
I'm not sure I want to watch this episode.
Anyway, right - I finished Book One of Avatar, and it rocked mightily! Prince Zuko is the woobiest woobie who ever woobed! Curse those pesky writers, delivering drop kicks to my Lex Luthor buttons!
So, what kind of Bender (heh) would you want to be? I'm thinking fire, just because it looks so awesome, but actually water would probably be more fun. Or air. Water or air, I think, upon balance, despite the gut-reaction of "Oooh! Fire from my FINGERS!" Because it would just learn to burny death, or at least singed eyebrows. Or, hey, singed other things, if you got all flamey at an inconvenient moment! Now THAT would not be fun.
Water. Yeah.
(...I'm not going to ask if there's slash. Clearly people out there must be slashing Zuko MADLY.)
Awww - and how much do I love Zuko's uncle? LOTS! Bless him!
And I want to be one of the fandancing warrior ladies. They had excellent makeup, nice outfits and THEY KICK ASS WITH FANS OF DOOM!!!
Love that.
