Compassionately intolerant

My heart belongs completely to Ten.

Me. That'd be me.

Until last week, I had seen exactly one episode of Doctor Who. The one with the last human skin graft.

Never identified as a Whovian, even though, 20 years ago, my boyfriend was a vj in Pittsburgh who played the show every week. Just couldn't be fussed.

I'm watching Season 2 now, though I've already watched Season 4

Now? I'm gone. Head over heels besotted with David Tennant's Doctor.

I blame you lot.

you should all watch this. i love how geeky he is about playing the Doctor. it's such a dream come true for him.

I had no idea Billie bought him the "Trust Me, I'm a Doctor" shirt. that's adorable!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

All the more Nine for me, unbelievers. Though that has no bearing on my DT love--made all the more plaintive by his video diary. He wears stubble well.

Watching Satan Pit, and damn those Torchwood Archives guys are HOT. Those women, if not currently abandoned or dead are lucky as hell.

Well, I loved David Tennant even before he got the Doctor job, so there!

My Saturday evening? Strangely empty. However, SO is away this coming week, so it might be the perfect opportunity for my second-half-of-season-4 rewatch.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

All the more Nine for me, unbelievers.

Yeah, I'm with ita here. I adore Tennant, and I love Ten, but Nine *is* the Doctor, in my mind. Nine is the man I'd follow to the end of the universe and back, the man I'd trust absolutely with my life. He's *my* Doctor.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Aw, yeah, I do love the video diary. Although it makes me a little sad that Ten doesn't speak with Tennant's real accent. (After all, Sylvester McCoy didn't put on an RP accent, did he? I can't recall, but I'm fairly sure he was himself.)

Loved Nine to pieces - I don't know whether the full impact of him being a Northern, blue-collar version of The Doctor, but it made me a very happy bunny. "Lots of planets have a North."

"My" Doctor, however, remains Tom Baker. Even though I only remember him foggily, he was so iconic, and he was The Doctor for such a lot of my childhood - floppy scarf, K9 and all. I was a bit dubious about Five, but he was okay. I liked Colin Baker's Six (felt bad for the guy - they gave him The Stupidest Costume in the history of ever, and clearly they didn't have much confidence in the show by that point) but couldn't get past the fact that Sylvester McCoy had been on kids' TV shows ( Jigsaw, iirc.) Mind you, I liked Ace.

Eight doesn't count.

Fay, come to the SPN thread! We would love to hear if you have any thoughts!!

You know, I tried to do exactly that this morning, and wrote a whole long thing...and the computer ate it.

I was so sad I hadn't the heart to write it out again, but I'll have another crack now.

All is well that ends in pizza.

The Stupidest Costume in the history of ever, and clearly they didn't have much confidence in the show by that point)

In retrospect I give Colin baker more credit than I used to, as I have found out that they intentionally wanted the character to be annoying. WTF?

I think the BBC decided to make it even more of a children-only show with Colin and Sylvester and it only occasionally went beyond that.

I remember losing interest during McCoy's run.

I have the 1996 TV movie, and there are some good points to it. It's darker tone and Sylvester McCoy getting shot in a drive-by to start.

And it had a bit of romance between the doctor and The Doctor.

I get the impression that when Nine comes on our screen in Rose, he has only just regenerated. (He checks out his face in one of Rose's mirrors.)

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Same. And as for all the appeareances of Nine in what's-his-name's conspiracy files, I've always assumed that after his first attempt to get Rose to go with him, the Doctor had a few lonely adventures through Earth's history before going back to remind her that the TARDIS travels in time as well.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That's just reminded me that I recently had a dream where I was hanging out with Tom Baker which made me the coolest chick on the block, which regardless of how I feel about Nine or Ten still feels kinda true. Prompted no doubt by the TB Remington Steele ep I'd just watched.
