A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I loved Star Trek TOS to death as a kid, so I find it hard to objectively judge now. But yeah, Spock was always my favorite character. Plus there was something tragic to him where the only time
he was ever happy was when he was under the influence of some alien spore.
(Whitefont just in case ita doesn't want to be spoiled for the EP with the spores...)
I didn't like the episode with the spores actually, because he was giggly and annoying. But I liked the one with the cloud people with the ethereal blonde that fell for him even though her dad thought she was pining for Kirk. I like how he regarded her.
Then there was that one where they got sent back into a planet's past and he was acting as angrily as his people were at that time (yet McCoy was perfectly normal)...he loved then too, with less giggling, and still there was that pain because McCoy couldn't go back without him, and duty was all.
Spock in charge of the ship is just laugh central. He's so curt and hysterical.

However, it's always fun to watch Spock beat the crap out of Kirk, so there's that trade-off.

Hells, yeah.
I wish we'd had Captain Pike instead.

"Time For Yesterday", right? A.C. Crispin wrote a couple of sequels to that. They're really pure fanfic, in the sense that it's the exact same impulse that motivates post-ep fanfic.

Yeah. Was that when Kirk tries to get Spock mad by calling him a "half-breed" and saying "your mother was a computer" and such?
After "The Naked Time" (the spore episode) aired, Nimoy's fan mail abruptly went through the roof.
Prior to that episode, Spock was simply an emotionless alien. After that, his character was suddenly a lot more complicated.

Yep. And that he should be in the freak show of a circus "right next to the dog-faced boy."
"The Naked Time" is a virus episode.
"This Side of Paradise" is the spore episode where Spock ends up cavorting in the sunshine.

I've heard that, but I think it was a different episode. It was one where everyone on the ship became super emotional, and Spock is in his quarters trying to talk himself down, saying "I am in control of my emotions" and then crying.
Damn, I'm surprised at how difficult it is for me to recall specifics....
eta: X-posty. Dana remembers well the two episodes in question....
