Sir? I'd like you to take the helm, please. I need this man to tear all my clothes off.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

DW 4.12 One of the things that really, really got to me was the way both Sarah Jane and Jack reacted to the audio feed from the Daleks. Lis Sladen in particular just sold that horrible mix of fear and hopelessness.

Tom, I think you're totally right. It's very much something that RTD would do. After so long, I never expected it to pay off, but one of the things the camera focused on when all the shaking was going on was the jar. Kind of like the gun in the first act better show up in the third.

One thing I don't quite understand, what with all the internal HOLY SHIT and OMG going on while I was watching: why weren't the Daleks just exterminating all the humans? I think I missed something in there, but I'm not sure what.

All is well that ends in pizza.

DW 4.12

SailAweigh, I think they were looking for specific types of humans for some nefarious purpose. I assume we'll find out in the second half. It could be as simple as the last few appearances where they have converted human hosts or merged with humans.

Sail, I think the Daleks are rounding them up to test for the potential to become Daleks - Davros has stripped his own flesh for the purpose, but he wants more, and the Emperor/God of the Daleks managed to create an army of Daleks with humans from the Game Station.

That's what I suspected, but I couldn't remember if Davros stated that explicitly and I just missed it.

Yeah, Sail, I'm pretty sure it wasn't stated outright, so that really is just speculation - still it seems pretty ominous that they are rounding people up rather than just killing them, particularly as they have not lost the "Exterminate" battle cry. So I don't think the leap is huge.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

You folk make it awful difficult to wait, and I haven't even read any of the whitefont. I just see all the excitement in the empty spaces.

Tamara, you see right.

OK, now that I've finally watched the whole thing, I can quote Ianto properly: "Slight loss of dignity. No change there, then". And I've decided to make that my new tagline (in two weeks, when it's blackfontable). LOVE him.

And I totally agree with Anne, the reactions of all the companions to the Daleks was pitch perfect, especially Sarah Jane to Davros.

I also loved the way they did the past-and-present-companion interactions. Donna and Rose obviously don't see each other as a threat, and I loved the way Donna was so happy for the Doctor when Rose showed up, but Rose was definitely pretty jealous of Martha there.

I am totally on the fence about whether or not David Tennant is off. I can see RTD & Co. doing both: wibbly-wobbly timey-wimeying so that he continues Doctoring or pulling the rug out from under everybody's feet that he's leaving now. Whatever they do, I'm looking forward to seeing it play out. BE NEXT WEEK PLEASE .

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

On a related note, "Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane" has totally cemented my SJA love (though it wasn't a terribly difficult deal to seal). I love how they've brought Maria's dad into the fold (very Joyce Summers, with big chunks of Hal from Malcolm in the Middle - I mean, seriously, the skateboarding? Hilarious and utilitarian).

Now to go watch the two eps that end the season. Hope this gets another run, cause I'm loving their version of the Scooby Gang.

Which channels are running SJA, Frank? Is Sciffy one, at all?
