Loved the Who episode last night -- good characters, amazing sets/CGI. Also good to see the Doctor knocked awry by something he doesn't know....
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
From a TWOPPer (in reference to "Silence in the Library":
I didn't think 2001 at that moment. I did think "Some say he's got four shadows. Others that there's nothing but an empty skull beneath his helmet. They whisper he can strip a man to the bone in a second flat and that he's what's in the Dark. What's always in the Dark.
All we know is that he's called... the Stig!"
Hee.
New Who 4.11 OMGWTFBADWOLF!!! That was absolutely brilliant. Also, Donna's grandfather simply broke my heart in the scene where the Italian (?) family was being taken away. If anyone knows of any (good) fic where the Doctor takes him for a trip to another planet, please let me know.
Wah! my usual source for DW-UK must be on vacation, I can usually watch it Friday night, or Saturday morning. If anyone could whisper in my ear where else I might find it, I'll make cucumber finger sandwiches and lavender lemonade . . . and dine on it in your honor.
Juliebird: Friday night, really? It only airs in the UK on Saturday evening. Whereabouts are you?
Who 4.11: ha! And I thought the two words would be "Rose Tyler". Bad wolf is back !
I liked the episode a lot. At first it bothered me that Harold Saxon didn't show up, but of course without the Doctor he would never have got back from the end of the universe. They only did the modern threats coming true, though; strictly speaking the earth should have been Pyrovile, or Carrionite, or something else. But that would have got way too confusing.
I also liked the way they killed everybody off (except Rose). And it looks as though they'll all be back next week, including Gwen and Ianto, who I hadn't been spoiled for, which is great .
BTW, any ideas as to who the Dalek-woman in the trailer is? Elizabeth I? Or is it Davros? I need to have another look, and see if it could be who I think it is... .
I'm in New Jersey.
Maybe I misremembered, because I don't remember watching it after BSG. Must of been Saturday night, late. I think not having BSG on threw me off a day.
Anyhoo, got it now!
Who 4.11:
OMGWTF worlds colliding! Ianto! Martha! Jack! Gwen! Sarah Jane! Rose! Very exciting!
NO HURTY DONNA.
Who 4x11 So good! Although I'm a little cheesed that they're hinting at Donna having been a super-special-magic-baby-with-a-destiny. Isn't she awesome enough all on her own?
I laughed muchly at Gramps stating that Donna couldn't save/change the world by shouting at it. Yes, yes she can!
Since I haven't watched The Sarah Jane Adventures, on the news report, were the teenagers listed as dead part of that show as well? I thought they were younger.
Who 4.11: I need to watch it again (oh, the hardship), because I found some of the writing a bit clunky, which is way too bad, because I love the concept and story of the ep. It was terribly elegantly constructed (I had the Saxon thought, too. And moving the Adipose to the US made perfect sense).
Next week is going to be brilliant and I'm so glad that I got up-to-date on all 3 Who-verse series within the past couple weeks.
I am going to be petty and note that I found Billie Piper's delivery off-putting (not least due to whatever dental issues she's got going on)
eta: Julie, yes, they were. That's 2/3 of the kids on the show, and I think we're given to assume that the other one would have been there, as well. That one actually bothered me just a little because there's no change in the timeline that, to me, would have meant that they would have been there in the alt-verse, but not the real one (the Doctor hadn't really interfered before the hospital went up to the Moon)
Who 4.11 I wish they'd given her better hair for the ep, and maybe a better wardrobe, or maybe a more mature wardrobe to tell the story of how she has a more responsible and serious job. Some sign that's she's changed and different and more grown-up.
