Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

DW 4.08: Holy FUCK, that was fantastic! I'm glad to see that Steven Moffat is continuing his reign of terror and awesomeness, because that was some badass scary heart-clutchy TV right there. Donna!!

Suddenly she's sane and trustworthy enough to be CAG again? Buh?

Right?? That was so out of place.

Ooh, DW. Off I go.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

DW 4.08: That somehow reminded me of some of the stuff they were doing in the 80s. Like maybe they were trying too hard, because it was not really scary to me. The more it was supposed to be scary, the more irritated I found it, rather than scared.

DW 4.08:

Windsparrow, really? I was totally creeped out. All that stuff about "sometimes someone doesn't come back" and the idea of the shadows being alive -- I mean, it reminded me strongly of "Blink" in the way it took something maybe vaguely scary to some people and made it TERRIFYING. I got chills when the Doctor gave his line about how almost every culture in the universe has a fear of the dark.

Dana, seriously! Although I thought it was funny how overtly they warned us against spoiling ourselves for the next one.

DW 4.08, so speculation on how the woman who knows him fits in ? I'm enjoying that little bit of mystery .

I wasn't nearly as creeped out by this one as I was by Blink, but I did enjoy it .

DW 4.08, re: JenP's whitefont, I'm hoping she'll be the next companion! Although I also still want Donna around for a long time, so I'm not asking for it anytime soon. I had a brief moment of wondering if she was supposed to be someone we already knew, but grown up, but I couldn't make it fit with anyone (at least from the new series; my knowledge of Classic Who canon is very limited), and anyway, she said several times that this was the first time they'd met in the Doctor's timeline. I don't think it was stated outright, but I thought it seemed clear from the way she spoke to him that they were/will be lovers, but I may be seeing through 'shipper-colored glasses. Did other folks get that vibe?

And just to reiterate, Donna had BETTER NOT be dead for real. Come on, creepy little girl, save her!

DW 4.8 re: Kate P's WF: Yeah, I definitely got the impression that there was a love thang going on from her perspective. I love Alex Kingston, so I'd love to see her as a companion, too, but, same here - like Donna and wish her to stay a while. I'm not sure I think she's a companion, though. I don't know why - it totally makes the most sense .

I assume that being "saved" means that the computer/girl has saved a profile, or whatever, of everyone she could when the Vashdayadayadayada swarmed, so she can regenerate them all at some point, once it's safe. She did the same for Donna .
