'Safe'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Compassionately intolerant

Moonlight turned out to be more fun than I expected. Predictable and depth-free, but pretty and sweet in moments. Testimony to my willingness to just enjoy certain things.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

In Ashes to Ashes 2 I'm a little taken aback that she was so wrong on her second case--wasn't whatisname right on all of his? And I'm a lot taken aback at how she dresses. Harrumph.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Well, ita, she wasn't so wrong. She did peg the kid as having the potential to be a bomber, which her mom didn't at all. I think Sam was pretty much always right on his cases, though, even when Gene was still somewhat right. Then again, Philip Glenister gets top billing on this show, so I guess he gets to be more right more often.

I liked this episode more. It felt more like a real episode (as happens with non-pilots), and I like that Alex has to deal with her mother and that they gave us a sort of endgame for this season, if not the series (attempting to save her parents).

I wouldn't be pissed at her being wrong in Ashes if not for him being right so much in his series. I think he was righter than Gene every single time.

Ashes to Ashes was the first music video I ever saw, when I first visited London in the early eighties. This show will always creep me out because of that.

not your mom's socks.

dear TV.

Please to tell the producers of The Signal to either suck on it or give some audio warning at the start of their commercial.

Am watching Torchwood - loves watching Torchwood. Strobe effects give migraines that make watching Torchwood impossible. Please to see above.

many thanks,
asshat viewer who cares.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Okay, I was really enjoying Torchwood except for when Rhys, after having seen a gigantic alien, refuses to believe that Gwen catches aliens for a living (otherwise that was a great argument). Handwaved that and then got to Owen suddenly deciding, all on his lonesome, that, as Team Torchwood is winning, to kill the sweet defenseless sentient alien whale/slug thing. The hell?!

I gave up on the last several minutes at that point.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

They were going to try to sedate it, but it had grown too big, so they euthanized it instead.

psychosis where we all turn into zombies and go out to see the movie... instead of ... er. actual psychosis.

Yeah. Too much art imitating life in my actual life. Causing pain. No love.

Yeah - the ending was turbulent, but there were some parts that really kicked ass. I was explaining to DH about how this was such a great show- and how there were competing relationships that made things complicated, when the catfight/who can be more worthy battle broke out in the conference room. And I almost yelled Jack! FTW! But really. Because then I'll have to explain cheering for Jack. And here I go... off to do just that.
