Huh. I can totally see that, Anne. Like you, I hope not!
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I have a feeling we are in for a lot of callbacks this season with all that "I've seen this face before, it's like I'm trying to tell myself something". I don't have a theory as to where that's going, but I think it's going to be a big thing.
One thing I hated...'Dopey, Sleepy, Grumpy..."
Why? Why call Strax a dwarf? The Doctor would know better, even if he isn't fully himself. He's an alien for goodness sake!
Why is that something the Doctor knows better than? I'm not sure if you're applying taste or morals or what, but he hadn't gotten any identities down right.
I liked how not comedic that was, BTW.
Good question. It may have been both taste and morals.
It just seemed mean spirited to me and even if he hadn't totally identified himself yet, he _surely_ identified as alien. Plus, how much of a role does Disney play in the Universe that the Doctor so readily pulled that reference out of his addled brain?
Huh. I realize now that the bottom line is that I have a huge prejudice against Disney in general and I guess I'd rather they not show up in the Doctor's world!
Was anyone else aghast/amused when Strax called out the young men in Clara's subconscious? "Sport. Well, it _could_ be sport."
My eyes flew open so wide they hurt!
If I were to compare it to telling a woman she's thinking of gay porn, I'd say both equally in character, one more bothersome, but trivially. I'd rather be a person who doesn't get names of things right called a dwarf than have my sexual fantasies investigated and narrated.
Of course, since he keeps calling Clara "Boy" how likely is it that those are actually young men in her subconscious?
So Missy was definitely someone we haven't seen before, right?
The guy sitting behind us at the Shamrokon showing of "Deep Breath" claimed she had shown up before, but I guess he was bullshitting us.
Of course, since he keeps calling Clara "Boy" how likely is it that those are actually young men in her subconscious?
Since he doesn't seem to get gender, could have been anyone on anyone. Still, vs. being called a Disney character vs. your spank bank deets...I know which I'd feel more bothered by.
