Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I read that the other day, and that made me so happy. Although the JLU cartoon is going to make me think Lex Luthor every time he opens his mouth.

There could never be too much of the Clancy on my TV screen.

I don't think I could physically be more excited about The Flash and S3 of Arrow without bursting into flames.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What sustains Sterek? I swear, I don't know where it came from, and I don't know why it's still breathing(/winning polls). I swear, it gives slashers a bad name.

I'm thinking the boat video and a year or so of support in interviews and conventions that the show's since been backpedaling on like someone noticing their bike path is covered in lava.

So basically nothing that's happened in the script?

It's like Derek's been on a different show for a while now anyway. But I can't think of another popular ship that's less onscreen. And when it comes to matching pretty faces, well, it's MTV. There are a lot of pretty combinations. Who talk to or about each other.

I'm still enjoying the show, but parts of it are starting to grate--Holland Roden's on her own show too, a show with lots of pouting and yearning at the camera with a distinct lack of understanding. But other parts, parts with the Stilinskis or the McCalls or Argents are still quite fun.

Malia is confusing me. How did she walk right back into a place in the world like that--she should be way behind in school, for instance, as well as pop culture and more consistently socially maladjusted, you'd expect, right? What even is her back story?

Slightly related, I have found myself catching the odd episode of Wolf Watch, and spending extra time staring at Hoechlin this week...he looks small. He's still delightfully cut, but kind of skinny. And his five o'clock shadow seems to be creeping up his face higher and higher.

Nothing scripted aside from Derek angrily slamming Stiles against some scenery on a few occasions, anyway. Hey, if it worked for Buffy and Spike...

Back when I was first watching Season 1, it amazed me that fans were pairing Derek up with Stiles rather than Jackson, given his habit of stalking and cornering the latter in a state of undress and meeting up with him in the woods at night.

A couple of things I'll give the series props for are making Scott and Stiles' friendship the emotional core of the show and depicting parent-child relationships just right.

I would have paired Derek with Scott until it became apparent that Scott was too good for him....but he's not in Stiles' league either.

I guess the point is pairing the guy you think is the coolest with the guy you think is the hottest?

It is definitely remarkable that they pulled off two great single parent families, and now aren't doing too badly with Scott's dad either. But it really would have been great if there'd been any real "well, *our* showrunner is GAY" payoff in depicting great relationships in that category.

Where was Danny last seen anyway?

Season finale of 3B, where he revealed he was in the know about werewolves, specifically that he'd been macking on one. Word is that he's no longer on the show, but I haven't seen anything saying whether it was a writer decision or on the part of the actor.
