Are we including The Doctor himself?
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I'd say Jack is clearly the first overt homosexual/bisexual action hero in English-language television. And that's important.
Would Capt. Jack be considered the first gay/bi lead in an action/adventure/SF show?
I think so, and I think that's why he's important. Of course, I would like to see him with a woman once in a while :) OTOH, I think that the producers aren't putting him with women because they're trying to intimate that he's holding a torch for Gwen, and she's the only woman he can love (hurl)
Oh and the earlier conversation about the Doctor and the Endless inspired a bunny:

What about Rose? He certainly flirted with her, at least until the Doctor A) warned him off her; and 2) took Jack's fancy himself.
Also, there was that sweet little old lady with the fairies, with whom Jack had had something nice going, back when she was young, that he had lied to about being his own son so he could get in touch with again.
But yeah, showing that Jack has occasionally fancied females is not the same as showing him in a current relationship with one.
But Jack's in a current relationship with Ianto. And while he's not exactly monogamous, I don't think he'd try to juggle two SOs at once.
Group relationship, maybe. But I don't see Ianto being too keen on that.
Sciffy schedule - I wonder why, after BSG ends (mid-month) they're running repeats of SG-1 instead of new episodes of SGA. Doesn't make sense, does it?
I thought SGA didn't start again until July 11?
The idea of Jack might be important, but it remains to be seen how that will play out on the sci fi landscape. You can say a lot or very little with something like that.
