Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

The thing I like about Orphan Black is for the most part, I cannot predict where they are going. I am along for the ride.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I liked last night's Who a lot, too. Part of it was nostalgia. I started watching Doctor Who not long after the period in which last night's episode was set.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I just continue to be blown away by Tatiana Maslany in this show. She does an amazing job of playing not just all the different clones, but then Sarah-as-Beth and Allison-as-Sarah too.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I liked the episode too!

"You are the only mystery worth solving."

Sigh.

Yeah, she could also be, like, a person.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That time, I felt like he was talking about people in general, but the Doctor not thinking of companions as people doesn't surprise me in the least--to him they are puzzles. Puzzles and reins, and outsourced empathy.

He's not that good with people.

Yeah, but this is Mr. "I've never met anyone who wasn't important." He's not good with people, but he respects people as a part of the universe. I hadn't considered that he meant people in general with that line since he's so clearly focused on Clara-as-puzzle, but I was expecting a different sort of answer, given previous sentiments he'd expressed about great humans are.

The status is NOT quo.

I loved this episode! I read the mystery-worth-solving as a testament to the Doctor's love of humanity. Not just as puzzles, but as complex entities he values over all others.

I like that reading better, so I will incorporate it into my headcanon.

The Doctor so love puzzles that when he first said that of Clara I thought they were...not Mary Sueing, but imagine the story from the fanfic perspective. He prides himself so much on his intellect and problem solving skills that he just put Clara on a massive pedestal. But he still doesn't grok feelings right, and as such isn't good at people.

He's very good at puzzles, though.

Compassionately intolerant

I suppose it is a testament to where I am in my own life that I heard that line as his admitting that he was falling in love with her.

I am shallow.
