I miss Oz. He'd get it. He wouldn't say anything, but he'd get it.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I have the horrible mental image of Speaker-to-Animals being rendered by the same SFX people who were to blameresponsible for the Garfield movies.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I don't know how to feel about that. Well, I disliked Ringworld an awful lot, so I just don't care what happens with that adaptation. But I just can't imagine Childhood's End as a movie, I remember it as being very, I don't know, general? Abstract? Stuff happened to the whole world, not to particular characters. Though it is a bit mixed up with Olaf Stapledon's Star Maker in my head, due to a class I took in college, maybe CE is more cinematic than I remember.

I think that visually, Childhood's End could be really interesting. But narratively? Ehhh.

I'm not enthusiastic about Ringworld. I have a sinking suspicion the Suck Fairy visited Larry Niven in the years since I read him with enthusiasm. Although I'm intrigued by the idea that they could do a CGI/puppetry version of a Pierson's Puppeteer. Those dudes are weird looking. No faces!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I actually think Ringworld could be really good, provided the writers take massive liberties with the text and maybe talk to a real woman or two before sitting down to create the script. Because buried beneath the idiotic plot and horrifically dated gender roles, there's a great sci-fi universe to explore there.

That's an excellent point, I hadn't considered that possibility.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I have to say, I'm not loving this season of Doctor Who so far. It makes me sad.

Edit: The fact that I don't love it makes me sad. The episodes themselves are not sad.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

This week's episode was particularly boring and really made me miss Rory and Amy.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yeah. Once the ice warier got out of his suit, pretty much nothing happened for the next half hour.

Compassionately intolerant

Phew. I'm so glad it wasn't just me thinking that.

How sad that the much-touted 50th anniversary year is turning out to be so blah.

Bad writing Moffat. No biscuit.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Gatiss wrote tonight's ep.
