Well...the dice are stacked against him...
Man, I thought hybrid guy was gonna die, and then I remembered, there's a strange combo of redshirt and immortality that *some* people call unpredictable plotting, and I call eyeroll-worthy.
It would have rocked, though, if he'd gone up and talked about sacrifice, and then died so that everyone else could get out.
Prowler is an ass, but...there is a cadre of the undead chilling in town, and they periodically rape and kill inhabitants, so...
I wish the show were ballsy enough to have a real good guy antagonist. Someone who says "Look, you can't keep doing this. If you were punished for your past acts alone you'd be locked up forever. And you keep slipping off the wagon or not getting on in the first place. You're a menace, and I need to protect the innocent people who live here."
I've read an oddly high number of arguments that say that Sam killing Madison was wrong, that he didn't give her enough time, that maybe she'd have learnt not to kill people, that they basically dumped this whole bunch of news on her and asked her to make a life or death decision, and she said "I've done bad things, and I'm likely to do bad things in the future, even though the person I am right now doesn't want to. The risk is too high, and I value those innocent lives more than I want to live with the monster I've become."
Yeah...even Lenore nutted up more than Stefan (can you believe that I still can't remember who is who, even though brother S is the one with the
feelings
and the
relationships
and brother D is the fast-living, casual sex, drinking and carousing brother who deep down inside believes he doesn't deserve anything good? (and, oh, thank god Supernatural had both brothers sleep with the same woman and
NO
love triangle--bless them forever for that)) and his rodent-drinking ass ever has. Only Caroline deserves her daylight ring (uh, way to go to cheapen a resource, guys) (and that's not Wesley-like character redemption--that's just changing her from a victim to a winner--it's like she just stopped being a bitch and a rape victim, and became in control and cool, and they hinged that on her turning, more than anyone else seems to have hinged anything--where was her heightening? Did I forget all that? Could happen--I did instant message through a large number of episodes...).
Wow, now I know why I've never been able to give TVD more than 5 minutes of attention.
Arrow -- minute 1, we get a shirtless workout. I fucking love this show.
t edit
Actually, 10 minutes in, and this show is ALL ABOUT the lack of shirt.
I tried; I just watched five minutes of Arrow. Luckily, there's always Tumblr for shirtless guys.
I changed the channel away from Arrow when he pulled the Bruce Wayne--I dig that it's true to the character, so I'm not mad at that--it's just that I'm attached to Bruce, and when he had to play the boorish dilettante and sully the family name--broke my heart. I don't want to watch it with a character I'm not as invested in is doing the same thing--it makes me uncomfortable, yes, but it's not compelling at the same time.
So--they work that? Making his family ashamed of him because if he was a marginally decent human being everyone would work out he's a masked vigilante?

Not really. He comes off as sort of vague and directionless, but not as a boorish dilettante. And his family doesn't seem ashamed of him.
I'm FULLY on board with the ending, though. And I'm pretty sure John Barrowman was in the preview for next week.
Okay--if they don't work that to the max, I don't have to be in the hall, and the shirtlessness will not be wasted. I just...I don't need that twice, especially if the second time is Arnell. Though, I have to say, I
love
the guilt trip of a father who SHOOTS HIMSELF IN THE HEAD, leaving his corpse with the kid he did so to save. No [insert stereotype here] grandmother can top that without her own weapon and a *really* long labour with no drugs.

It basically makes the book full of Kill-These-People-KTHXBAI an afterthought.
the shirtlessness will not be wasted.
Do not waste the shirtlessness.
The Deadshot in tonight's ep is not very similar to comics!Deadshot, which makes me sad. And that's odd, because I'm okay with the departure from the comics for the other characters (I'm not really sure if Thea/Speedy, Laurel, and Tommy Merlyn are meant to be foreshadowing to character development, or just easter eggs for comics readers), but I wanted Deadshot to be comics!Floyd Lawton, damn it.
The bodyguard is rapidly becoming my favorite character.

Just the scene where he comes into the apartment last week when Kelly Hsu (fuck, that woman does *not* age--I need to get good pictures of her for provocateuse) came in, did his thing and then suspiciously sassed Ollie--I was on his team from then.
I suspect that people who don't get why Coulson was popular might not get that. But there is a not "just" supporting character thing an actor can sell minimal but decent lines with and win me over.
I want to say this was the weakest episode so far. Which is disappointing, considering it had Deadshot.
I'm kind of hoping Deadshot lived and managed to crawl away while Ollie was getting his bodyguard to the antidote.
The poisoned bullets thing seems really forced, to me. The whole idea is he never misses. Why would the poison matter, at that point?
Even there, I could kind of accept it on his sniper rounds. Calling card and all that. But the idea that he took the time to put a rare poison onto a magazine full of machine gun rounds for what is ideally his hold-out weapon just seems really silly to me.
Also, great, get your guy the antidote, but maybe you secret, filthy warehouse base isn't the best place to be treating multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.

Yeah, Digg is awesome. I really don't care much about the other characters yet, except maybe Not!Dresden.
