Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Whew. Much as I love Fringe and would theoretically be happy for it to go on forever, I think having a set end date in sight will help get the story told with a satisfying conclusion.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Yay! Ausiello kept saying that a final season was a safe bet, but I was still holding my breath.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Would this be the place to discuss "Touch", the new Kiefer Sutherland show?

Does anyone want to admit watching it? I'm afraid I'm getting sucked in. I need other people to tell me if this is a mistake.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Is it something that I should be interested in?

Well, Kiefer has an autistic son who is obsessed with numbers and patterns. The kid never talks but his patterns and numbers keep leading Keifer into these unintended encounters. Danny Glover was in the first few episodes and was helping Keifer interpreret the "messages" the son was trying to convey.

The background is that his wife was killed in one of the towers on 9/11. Some of the patterns lead back to that.

but there is also an ongoing subplot of people all over the world becoming connected by seeming random things. Like a lost cell phone that is circling the globe because people find it, post stuff on it and slip into the pocket of someone else's luggage. So a lot of the dialoge in each episode is captioned because the people don't speak English.

Because of this, it's hard to have it on in the background and know anything about this on-going subplot. You only hear the A story about Keifer and son. The B story requires actual paying attention.

So, I realized this after a few episodes and actually paid attention to the latest episode and was quite taken by the globe-trotting subplot.

I just noticed that Philosopher's Stone is among the words that appear in the Fringe opening sequence.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

'A' for effort on identifying the correct commuter rail line (though it would be 'Salem Station', not 'Newburyport/Rockport Station'), but that is SO NOT Salem. One of the better laughs I've had all day, though (right after Walter's "You've tried LSD before, haven't you?").
