Merle was awesome. Both on the episode and Talking Dead. If they could figure out a way to bring him back without being a zombie, I'd be happy. I thought "Merle" gave great background to fill out Daryl's character. I liked that he was a construct of Daryl's that included all of the real Merle's heinous attributes but ultimately did help Daryl survive.

If anyone is still watching Sanctuary. I was just sad for them this week. The semi-musical aspect was just...weak.
No sci-fi show for the next 10 years should even attempt a musical episode to avoid the certainty of paling in comparison. Joss owns that territory.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.
I thought Fringe had a very entertaining musical episode. Sci Fi is much harder to work musical into, but they did it well. Joss's territory was fantasy, and he wasn't the first to go there. Xena did it way earlier, and did it well too. But they never get credit.

Bonny I agree. I thought the musical element was quite weak. The plot was unbelievable as well. What the fuck did Will think the options were? I did not understand why he pitched a fit over Magnus' solution. What would Plan B, C, or D be? Yes?

It seemed that Will just wanted the ick to go away in that irrational way that people over the edge can expect. The choosing of which pain to exact becomes the choice to not choose.
I didn't like how they made his rational character suddenly go all gooey, but I could see why it would happen.
The thing that reaaallly bugged me was the volume of lead balloons they launched.
The musical interlude with the heads of the other houses, for instance. When that was going on I got all, 'It's a pandemic!' panicky. But no. No follow through.
Canadian guy blasts Henry in his guilt...What can I do to make this right?...and then we never see him again? Feeble.
The part I really DID love, and which almost justified the rest of the whole ugly mess, was Jim Byrne's solo. I just love his voice.
I only wish they'd used that particular conceit to greater effect.

Yes to Byrne's solo.. especially because he's a pro musician. But I wish the rest of the episode had been up to it.
