Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I was gutted by their deaths, sumi, so my only conclusion is that you have no heart...
ita is me. Only, you know, cooler. I thought Owen went out well, but Tosh ... Tosh broke me. I really didn't expect them to take out two real characters at once.
Next season: Can't help but wonder if Martha Jones will return to Torchwood -- in retrospect, her appearances this season had the feel of a screen test. I'd imagine they'd want at least one completely new character to take over as an "entry point" now that Gwen's well-acclimated to the organization.
You mean, because the production of Doctor Who is taking a break for a year?

I thought they were doing specials? I'm totally out of the loop. They seem hell bent to keep Freema Agyeman working though, don't they?
I would be totally down with Martha joining the cast, if they went that way -- I'm sorry to hear that she won't be back for this season of Who.
The double death just broke me. In retrospect, I think that Owen's felt a bit manufactured, in that they had to maneuver his character into one of the few places where he could be finally K I L L E D.
(Unfortunately, my understanding is that radiation doesn't work that way -- it would be more like being microwaved, wouldn't it?)
...not having watched the Highlander TV show, I get the impression that in terms of quality and slashy dynamic, it and Moonlight are perhaps cut from the same cloth?
Er, I'm not exactly unbiased about the quality of Highlander but I would put the tv show above all but the first movie, and certainly above Moonlight. Possibly not far above, and often the plots did not rise above Monster Immortal Of The Week, but there were tons of eye candy dressed in marvelous period costume to make up for it in variety. Hmm, it occurs to me that my ability to make this assessment in this company is likely to be hindered by the fact that I watched Highlander and loved it long before I saw Buffy, which has certainly raised my expectations. I would put the best of Highlander above the lesser episodes of Star Trek: Voyager and yet it did not reach quite as high as Voyager could.
As for Sophia Myles' American accent, she's good enough that it took me a couple minutes to place her. Don't think she hits it as brilliantly as Hugh Laurie's House, but certainly less cringeworthy than the "Americans" on Doctor Who barring Captain Jack, of course.
Next season: Can't help but wonder if Martha Jones will return to Torchwood
Well, Issue four of Torchwood magazine confirmed that the 45-minute Torchwood radioplay, to be broadcast in June or July, will be set after series two (so no Owen or Tosh), and will star Freema Agyeman.

My brother's a nuclear engineer, and he found he whole thing laughable. I didn't pay attention when he was explaining why, because I don't really care.

I guessed there might be an opening for a new Torchwood medic back when the finale aired.... And yes, somebody at BBC Wales seems very concerned about keeping Freema busy.
I'm sorry to hear that she won't be back for this season of Who.
Actually,
she's in next week's episode (she was in the trailers), and then at least two more.
DW 4.3: another
very enjoyable episode, with great characters and guest stars.
DW: The previews for next week's episode excited me a whole lot more than this week's episode did.

I did think it kind of strange that anything would vent into a control room, at any time, emergency or not.
Who 4.3:
I thought that was very classic Who, especially wrt Donna's comment of not knowing who/what was right. Do you think the comment about the Doctors song being nearly over was about the end of the series? In the near future?
