Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I think it might have been that the writers wanted to get off of the Melody-River plotline, so they needed to wrap this section of that up in one episode (Find Melody! Oh, we did. And now she's grown up and needs her space...'kay...). That way, they can go have other adventures.

That they put themselves there in the first place is a whole other thing.

I also have deeply mixed feelings about the choices they made around the inter-racial regeneration.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Why did Melody decide that she needed to start wearing jumpers in her new fab body? I thought that was a sweater?

in what way?

They accentuate the bustline.

I liked that they showed that inter-racial regeneration is possible. I'd love to see Chiwetel Ejiofor as The Doctor.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

jumper/sweater

I thought she said johdpurs, since she was All About Her Ass.

Johdpurs makes sense.

Divine was . . . short. Very short, and the one female character is played by a terrible actress, but I could watch Misha have a wordless existential crisis of faith all day.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Vortex, the positive feelings, I think, are pretty obvious, but did she have to be the juvenile delinquent sociopath? I may be being over-sensitive. I was going to post being all "yay! precedent for open season on ethnicity for regenerations!" and then thought "well, but...bus-jacker."

I think the Internets agree. Jodhpurs is what I heard also.

I thought nothing of it, her personality was consistent with River.

I think It made sense for River to have grown up being a delinquent. She has two forces inside of her at war. The awesomeness of Amy and Rory DNA, and her mission.

I wonder if the ethnicity was before or after the basic story was written. Mels ethnic makeup seems irrelevant to the plot.
