Mal: We're still flying. Simon: That's not much. Mal: It's enough.

'Serenity'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Me too, Dana. I'm completely lost. I don't think it's going in order, either forwards or back.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think it makes more sense for it not to go exactly back to front. What are the odds? Just bumping into each other every now and again makes more sense.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

My own take is that their timelines generally run opposite each other's, but there's some amount of randomness and looping.

The Bleeding Cool article includes at least one chart.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Possibility: River has to kill the Doctor. It's in her programming. So, Real!Doctor comes up with a plan to use Flesh!Doctor to fulfill that imperative, so that she can be done, and move on with her life. And that is what we saw at the top of the season.

Now, I want to go back and watch all relevant episodes since the beginning/end ( depending on your perspective). I still don't know how the damn Silence fit into the whole thing.

I like that theory a lot, Debet

“Not dead yet!”

Nate posited that the Silence & the Flesh are differently adapted versions of the same fundamental being. The example he gave was of a lizard species where one group were trapped on land and another on water and each adapted to their new environment. Fundamentally the same creature, but different due to evolution.

Whether that turns out to be true or not, it's still a pretty clever take.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Oh! And, what the frack was written on the crib?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Oh! Never mind, I figured it out! That's how she knew his name!

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

DebetEsse, I was thinking star charts and instructions for building a Fortress of Solitude... Oh, wait, wrong series, nevermind.

ETA: DebetEsse, of course, that's brilliant! And dang it, I wish I had thought that first.
