Well, then, this is a day I'll feel good to be me.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

brillig

I liked Rygel. So unapologetically awful, setting off the rare moments of likeability.

Rygel makes me laugh. I actually enjoy all of the main characters, and that's impressive, I think.

You all should rewatch! That would be fun for me. I'm glad you guys are enjoying me posting reactions, because I've got a lot of show left.

I just watched 1x16, so I'm glad it starts to really take off now.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I don't think I ever liked Rygel, but I eventually learned to tolerate him.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I never learnt to tolerate other people's tolerance of him. He seemed a net minus for the crew, so I felt like he was kept around to amuse the audience, not for any strong in-universe rationale. Which bugged.

the trilogy of "Unrealized Reality/Kansas/Terra Firma"

That's when I stopped watching. Well, UR concerned me, and then I fell asleep during Kansas and realized that I just didn't care anymore. It was like they'd sat down with a list of things I'd liked about the show, just so they could do the opposite of each one.

I agree with you there, though. I never could figure out what he actually added.

Ah, yeah, that really is where the series kicks off. What I am about to say would be a spoiler for Mark in that it hints at future events even though it doesn't really say anything specific, so I will whitefont it: in retrospect, it is the single-most important episode of the series. That won't become apparent for a while, though. I remember when I first saw it, I think I was sort of disappointed by the ending, but I grew to appreciate it.

zuisa, I reviewed each season of Farscape on my LJ. If you check my tag, I have reactions to each episode in the posts. (Like you, I was posting my reactions here.)

Ooh, yay, I will check that out! And I am always impressed at people with nicely tagged LJs. I have the same LJ I've had since 2003, and there are... no tags. So it's always thrilling for me when I try to find anything!

I don't mind non-specific spoilers, and yeah, I obviously can't see how or why, but it sort of makes sense that that episode would end up being very important.

I don't remember - which one is 1.16? And who is Mark?

1x16 is "A Human Reaction", where John thinks he has found Earth, and then Rygel, D'Argo, and Aeryn follow him, and uh... bad stuff ensues.

Mark is of Mark Reads and we've been discussing his reviews of The Hunger Games in the literature thread. He has a very specific no-spoiler policy.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

The Parts I and II of "Into the Lions Den" in Season 3 are just awesome in Farscape.

I remember watching one particular scene about 5 times before I could advance the video any further. The character's speech is absolutely killer, dramatic, and on point. I liked Farscape before that, but I had much love of the series after this 2-parter.
