Spike: Heard what happened up top, offing your dad and all. Don't know if you know this, but, uh…I killed my mum. Actually, I'd already killed her, and then she tried to shag me, so I had to-- Wesley: Thank you. I'm…very comforted.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

P-C- I am not sure they sent him a program or recognized him as a Final 5. Since they located a being that they look up to as a god, they decided to back the fuck off.

BTW, it occurs to me that this just gave us the explanation of how Anders survived on Caprica against all odds. Everytime a cylon came up to him, they backed off.

Torchwood S2 Finale:

Gut wrenching. As noted above, Tosh's, "...because you're breaking my heart!" was just... I already used gut wrenching, and heartbreaking seems repetitive, but pretty much those two things. And her being the brave little toaster to the end by not fessing up that she was dying, too. Goodness. Owen, Tosh, I'm so sorry you didn't get your chance. Damn, show, way to be heartbreakingly awesome.

Love Rhys, and I'm so glad that he's still with us. I was a tad worried at the, "We'll see each other when it's all over," line. Sneaky writers with their anvilly diversions that aren't anvilly after all. And the, "Will you marry me again?" bit was adorable. Rhys and Gwen has made me like Gwen a whole lot more this season .

BSG premiere - I was soooo sleepy when I watched! I have to DL so I can focus more on everything. I followed the story fine, and I'm intrigued, but I want to rewatch for the effects. You know, the important part.

I think Tigh was having a waking dream of his own making - worst fear realized, as someone said above.

I'm just happy my show is airing again!

Off to watch the Dr. Who premiere now.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Oooh. Good point.

Oh gooness yes! I was like, well, just put a red shirt on now, Rhys, and say bye-bye

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Okay, so I'm watching TW backwards, and I don't understand Captain John going along with Gray in torturing the Torchwood team and potentially killing them at the preservation of his own life, and then expecting me to be all "boohoo, he really loves Jack and wants to help." Sure, that's great, but he still doesn't give a shit about murdering other people for money or (attempting to) murder the people Jack cares about --I get that, since Jack can't die, John putting his life on the line for Jack specifically really doesn't mean much and is rather stupid, but there's also the centuries of torment thing when Jack gets buried alive, and I'm not sure I'm on board with that having absolutely no psychologically damaging repercussions whatsoever.

Otherwise, good final two eps, I really enjoyed seeing how Tosh, Ianto and Owen joined the team, and I thought that second to last ep added a lot of insight into who they are and have been over the past two seasons. Well done.

edited for clarification

Once we found out that John was being bugged by Grey the whole time, I assumed that his loud insistance that he didn't care if he killed the team was probably for Grey's benefit.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

FINALLY managed to rewatch the BSG premiere last night! The opening battle seq remains one of the most beautifully coreographed space battles I've ever seen. Just spectacular.

I think the Jesus!Baltar storyline may be a little too awesome for its own good, but for now I love it. The only way for him to survive is to live among the only people in the fleet crazier than he is. And the only way for him to stay in their good graces is to not disappoint their expectations that he's the Messiah, which means he has to make a really good show of not being a selfish cowardly little weasel. (On reflection, I think this is the storyline I wanted for Spike. Not redemption via twu wuv, but redepmtion via "These people frighten me with their craziness. I'd better pretend to be a good person so they don't crucify me until I can figure out an escape plan." And redemption's the wrong word in both cases, but I can't think of a better one so I'm gonna let it stand as is.)

Insisting over and over that he'd prayed for the kid (which he hadn't, obviously) and then actually doing it because he's terrified they'd figure out he was lying? AWESOME.

MagicalDestiny!Starbuck could get old fast, but I'm willing to see where they go with it.

Someone on the BSG thread at Pandagon pointed out that the leaders of a space-faring society with FTL technology really shouldn't have been so confused by Starbuck's time discrepancy.

The four secret Cylons continue to make me squee with fannish delight.

Ann, that's a ferret.

BBCA Torchwood: The basic premise made sense -- no reason the Rift can't be a two-way Rift. And loved ones will worry. And those who disappear can come back wrong. And it makes sense to have a place for them.

And -- as we saw with Nikki -- not knowing isn't necessarily the worst thing. Which at least sets up an ethical dilemma of whether to tell the loved ones and, if so, how much. Parallel to the "is death the worst?" theme of the show. (And there's an interesting question there -- Is Nikki better off knowing that her son is still alive and disfigured in more ways than one?)

But Jack's "I know best, and you need know nothing" management style really irked me. Gwen's been part of the team for a while now. She should know what's going on. If only so she doesn't stumble into things like she did.

I'd have liked to hear Gwen's reasons for thinking Andy doesn't belong in Torchwood. He wouldn't fit? He deserves to keep his innocence? She doesn't want to risk Rhys's jealousies?

I still think Rhys doesn't have the temperament to be married to someone in law enforcement. But Gwen also needs to stop letting the hours slip by without at least calling to say she'll be late.

Jack may not have done the most respectful thing by Ianto when he unilaterally invited Gwen to join them. On the other hand, it's a very Jack thing to do, and Ianto most likely knew it before getting too involved with Jack.

Art Crawl!!!

My guess is that she wants to preserve his innocence.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

But Jack's "I know best, and you need know nothing" management style really irked me. Gwen's been part of the team for a while now. She should know what's going on. If only so she doesn't stumble into things like she did.

I think that Jack didn't tell her because he knew what would happen, she would insist on telling people that their loved ones were alive. And, as we saw, it would open a whole can of worms. Even if he had had the discussion with her, she still would have insisted on it. It wasn't until Nikki said "promise me that you won't do that to anyone else" that Gwen really got it.

Jack may not have done the most respectful thing by Ianto when he unilaterally invited Gwen to join them. On the other hand, it's a very Jack thing to do, and Ianto most likely knew it before getting too involved with Jack.

I think that it wasn't a real invitation, it was a dismissal, a clear "we're not talking about this anymore, and I don't really want to talk to you about anything else, so what can I say to make you go away?"
