'Out Of Gas'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

For some reason, my TiVo didn't pick up the Eureka special automatically. The after airing was the first one I found in my listings. But it did catch W13, which is what sparked my suspicions.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I didn't know about either Eureka or W13, but my DVR did not fail me!

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Eureka was utterly sappy and I loved it. Because I'm a big sap when it comes to Xmas. Plus, I missed these guys (except for Poochie).

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Eureka: I can handwave the sappy Xmas magical bits, but one thing made no sense. What kind of Secret Santa exchange is it where one person buys all the gifts? Talk about drawing the short straw!

I knew it was airing but lost track of time, and so am grinding my teeth through this awful W13 special in order to get to it.

Good god, this is incredibly sappy.

So far, Doctor Who is still winning the Christmas special race.

Yes, it is a race.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

I honestly don't mean to be non-politically incorrect, but I know Saul Rubinek and Judd Hirsch are not Christian. Are their characters? And if they aren't, why are they celebrating Christmas? Why does TV force all characters everywhere to join around the Christmas tree and hand out candy canes and presents?

They sounded so Yiddish under the Christmas music and it made me raise my eyebrows. Hanukah not good enough?

Some Jews do celebrate a secular version of Christmas, cause trees, carols and Santa are fun.

Huh. So Carter is telling a tale set in this timeline that he didn't actually experience.
