Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Intriiiiguing. As if I needed another show to be interested in.

That is basically the story of my life right now. But I too have heard lots of great things about Misfits, and so it is also on my ever-growing, insanely long list of shows to watch.

if it helps, P-C, there have only been ten episodes.

i've officially sunk into youtube land where i've found out that Iwan Rheon sings. as if he wasn't already pushing so many of my kinks. gah. i'm such a sucker for a guy who sings.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

For zuisa:

Jack was so my favorite. I thought he was just adorable. Although, whenever he was upset, particularly when he goes to see Dal's grave, I never had any idea what in the world he was saying. I feel like most of the actors tried to speak in neutral-ish English accents because the show was being broadcast in so many countries, but Jack was definitely Kiwi through and through.

Totally. Sometimes the accent was so thick I'd swear he was trying to chew through it...which makes sense in my head as a descriptor. Though I loved that I discovered the giveaway word for the Kiwi trying to pose as an American (or generic non-accent). They don't say "important" - they all pronounce it "impordent" (like that thing in the Bible that I'm not remembering clearly where you could tell if someone was from such-and-such a place by asking them to say some word that they couldn't pronounce...my brain, she is cluttered and random...) I was so fond of Jack (and the actor) that I even watched his next series "Atlantis High" or something like that...sooo stupid. Made The Tribe look like, well not quite Firefly in comparison, maybe Lost? Anyway, you get my point.

Loved Bray, and Bray and Amber

Tried to like Amber, for Bray and Pride's benefit (so to speak), but she was too post-apocalyptic Mary Sue for me.

I played Patsy, s despite not really thinking she's the most interesting character, I feel like I have crazy insight into her life.

Interesting. I never really gave her much thought, but now you say that, her character really was relatable and her motivations were really believable.

I could never tell Siva and Java apart when they were both Technos and it blew my mind that they weren't actually twins.

Totally! I mean Ebony was so like them that the relationship was obvious, but the two of them were nearly indistinguishable.

I also really loved Mouse and Patch.

Mouse never did much for me. I don't remember Patch, which one was he? But I'm also remembering that I never actually saw the 1st season, I just read the recaps, and WAM dithered so much before they got around to showing the last season, I never really saw any of it either...I think that's part of the holes in my memory.

I just found something so compelling underneath the bad acting and bad writing, with the kids trying so hard to rebuild a world avoiding the mistakes their parents made and found themselves time and time again just doomed.

So.Very.Much.This.

In searching around for the Tribe

For bonny:

Specifying New Zealand might help with narrowing it down. However, really, don't knock yourself out about it - see above re: bad acting and bad writing. I don't even own any DVDs myself (their prices having an outrageousness that makes BBC DVDs seem reasonable, or so I remember). All I have is a few eps on tape here and there and a blooper tape that I won somewhere).

Though I haven't looked for them in a while, maybe it's time to search online again. There are some VERY pretty young (yet legal) men in that cast. ;)

Re: Fringe...and holy cow! Other!Broyles and the missing limbs to get the mass transfer right! Walternate seriously does not screw around! Geeez!

Compassionately intolerant

Thanks for the wave off, Epic. Truth to tell, like P-C, I really don't need anything else to focus on, teevee-wise. I'll just sit calmly, with my hands folded, and wait for the new Primeval.

I hear you. As I thought about digging up tapes for some re-watch I remembered the back-up in my DVR and the stack of to-be-watched DVDs that threatens to bury me next earthquake, and thought perhaps just going forward (and not looking for new material) for the next little while might be the wisest course.

bonny, there are also five seasons of 52 episodes each, so, uh... it's a lot of show. I only got into it because I was flipping channels one night and came across it, and it was so WTF that I had to figure out what in the world was going on.

Epic, I'll probably have a real response to that tomorrow, as I'm a bit distraught right now, as...

I just watched the "Doomsday" episode of Doctor Who and here I am blubbering like a baby. Damn show. I suppose it's a sign of it being a good show in that it usually makes me laugh like a lunatic and here I am blubbering, but, wow. Way to be harsh, show.

and tommy, thanks for that link! I really find myself wanting that cell phone charm. I like cell phone charms, and a TARDIS one is even cooler!!

Omigosh, I had forgotten it had a soap opera schedule! That's why I had so many tapes...

And hey, zuisa is me! Who knew?

More evidence zuisa = me

I have the TARDIS, totally cool, though it goes through batteries like whoa. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to get the sonic screwdriver keychain myself.
