I'm with Vortex on the yes and no understanding of Allison's behavior. It would, I think, have made more sense to me if she'd done what so many 'normal' parents would do which is to 'help' with science projects...with Kevin's knowledge. The out and out cheating just rings wrong.
Not to mention the fact that she has, up until now, been presented as a genius in her own right, and someone whose job it has been to save the world from other people doing bonehead things. I can't imagine, no matter how motherly she was being, that she would not have thought this action through to its inevitable and potentially tragic conclusion.
I think that her intelligence was her downfall in this case. She knew that the TAP was inert unless stimulated by a particular frequency, so she reasoned that nothing could go wrong. A less intelligent parent would have been more worried about the consequences, so might not have done it.

I'm biting my tongue/fingers on the topic of how they have portrayed Kevin's autism as well as Allison's relationship with him. Full stop. More on the topic would be an ugly rant.
I can totally see why Andi. Totally. This is one of those cases where I wave frantically and focus on the entertainment portion of the program. But I get it.

I know how you feel. Inaccurate portrayals of things that you have intimate knowledge of burns. It's not as personal as when they fuck up legal stuff, but I get it.
It's not like this is meant to be cinema verite, and really, there is plenty of handwavium to go around.
We went to Maine on Friday night, and I missed a good chunk of the middle trying to get everyone settled in. When I finally sat down and Scott told me what Allison had done, I figured he must have missed something (no TiVo @ the cottage). When it all shook out, I couldn't swallow it. I kept hoping I'd feel differently once I got to see the whole episode. Heh. Guess not.
The only Allison handwavium I've been able to employ is this: Allison's life is so changed because Kevin is so different (heck, he's even been recast) that none of this reality feels real to her, so she's not making the same sort of choices she'd make in "real" life. For Allison, this is almost like a wish-fulfillment universe. It only half works, though.
I can't handwave Henry's hotel comment, no matter how hard I try. Maybe there should have been a throwaway line about one of them being bogged down in a big project or working different shifts or something, because that was just dopey. Actually, it probably would have been better to just say she was away for the conference without trying to explain why Henry didn't go with. It's good to know CFerg and JM felt the same way while filming.
I love Jack and Jo's friendship and am really hoping it just remains a friendship. There's a paternal vibe there that works for me, just the way it is.
It was so great to have Zoe back on screen. I hope we see more of her. In so many ways, she's the reason Jack stayed in this freaky town, at least at first. Their relationship is so good. I'm neutral on Jo/Zane. I have to say though, in the one episode of this that I got to recap (3-06: Phased and Confused), I saw great sparks between Zane and Zoe. I know it was 7 flavors of wrong then, but if Zane can be socialized in this new reality, I wouldn't mind seeing it.

I thought that it was a nice foreshadowing. I think that this is a problem that needs to be addressed.
