Random side note: Though Van Gogh painted many of his most famous works during his time in Arles, France, none of his works are on display in the town. Or weren't, as of 1996. But you can see works of art inspired by Van Gogh there - [link]
'The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco'
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
sumi,
so...it's pretty Desperate Housewives like with less humor. I'm watching it, but I am not sure I would tell another person "hey, this is a good show!"
Right now, my main investment is in seeing how many supernatural "people" they can cram into this gated community. Last nightI learned there is a succubus walking around and that was good enough for me to get me to next week.
I watched the pilot of The Gates(mostly for Luke Mably and Rhona Mitra) and was bored to tears. the supernatural Desperate Housewives description is apt. the review they're using to promote the show saying it's True Blood crossed with DH is way off the mark though.
Is it like the way they promoted The Secret Life of the American Teenager as "7th Heaven meets Juno"?
DW Finale: I actually... the ep was OK. Just OK. Excellent writing, but it didn't pierced the heart, as other eps have had. It moved me, but it didn't break my heart. Did I grow older? Did the show?
Seska: Did he answer the Doctor's question about whether she was married *to him*, do you think? And does anyone else think her time jumpy armband thingy is Jack's? I think she said recently that she met a man in a bar...
YES.
Thank goodness for subtitles. Though sometimes I still have no idea what they're saying.
Try do it without subtitles and with Hebrew as your first language. And I watched "Takin' Over the Asylum" for young DT like that (excellent TV, btw).
Matt Smith and Orbital, Glastonbury 2010.
Is it sad that I cared more for him in person there than in most of the series? I mean, I loved the stories. But the Doctor himself... Maybe I'm saying it because I caught an old DT ep earlier this week, and, you know, his performance is always nothing but perfect. He owns the character to its molecules and soul. Smith? Just the soul. (Not really spoilers, just to be on the safe side).
But. That video. Dunno if it's the coat or anything, but he's HOTT.
As for Seven and Ace: don't really know much about either, but a recent internet survey tells me that from all of the companions, I'm Ace. Good or bad thing?
I was just coming to post that P-C! Alas, I will settle for posting it in the other place.
Is this a good thread for this?
Nerdvana achieved: Summer Glau is the voice of Supergirl
Not content with winning every poll, decimating Reavers and seducing John Connor, Summer Glau will now be the voice of Supergirl in the direct-to-DVD movie Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, which adapts the second storyline of Jeph Loeb's run on the Superman/Batman comic.
That Orbital videao kind of just makes me want to relive my misspent youth and take a bunch of E. Is that Captain Jack's jacket he's wearing? Sexy loved up druggy music clothes swapping. Hmmm.
Shir: Aww, how can you say it didn't move you?! The Girl and I both *melted* over Rory looking after Amy-in-a-box for two millenia. There was laughter and pathos and remembering and River and a wedding and missing stars and a very cool TARDIS description and a continuing mystery and a Doctor who can't dance. Wonderful!
Ace was the most kick-ass companion ever. Arguments can be made for others, but think Ace wins.
