Ah, yes, of course. The gypsies, they gave you your soul. The gypsies are filthy people. Ptui! We shall speak of them no more.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

It's almost as bad as people outrunning explosions.

That's what I was going to say: if you can outrun an explosion, you can outrun a tiger.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

if you can outrun an explosion, you can outrun a tiger.

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!

Seriously, that still makes me laugh.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Me too! It's possibly the world's stupidest movie, and I laugh and laugh.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

I don't think Doctor Who breaks the laws of narrative all that much. It has internal cohesion, which is central to fantasy (although I wouldn't call it science fiction either). I wrote a dissertation on narratology and fantasy (some years ago, now), and I'm going to assert my right to disagree with Pratchett on that basis. So there.

UK Doctor Who ep:

Fiona: Re your question "Anyone else think that the man River kills is the Doctor? I thought that was quite heavily signposted" - I think that, as River kept saying, it's not going to be that simple. Neither is she his wife, I'm almost sure, on account of how much people around them keep claiming they must be married. I don't think they're going to reveal any answers in that area for a good while, though.

I wasn't particularly happy with the ending - I'd really been hoping for a Donna-style platonic relationship, and even though this is clearly just Amy being 'wrong', it's still irritating to have yet another companion fall for the Doctor. But she played it well.

As for the theory that all gingers are one person, I've heard that from someone else too. (It's fortunately not very likely though.) But is there much they can do with "it's all about Amy" from here on? Donna, at least, was only at the centre of everything because of something involving the Doctor. I'm wondering if they'll actually make this about Amy.

I agree with Seska re: internal cohesion. It's all a bunch of wibbley wobbley timey wimey stuff.
