Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Two minutes into Doctor Who:

Goddamn, River Song's shoes are FABULOUS.

Doctor Who:

"Anything that holds the image of the angel becomes the angel."

Great. Now my TV is going to eat me.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Just caught up on this week's Fringe. Oh, Walter! Oh, Peter!

This is so much sadder and more tragic to me than anything that has happened on Supernatural! I think it just feels realer or John Noble and Joshua Jackson are just that good!

brillig

If the Secretary is Alterna-Walter, it's even more John Noble goodness ahead. He does Tragic-Sweet-Walter so nicely, but then there are the flashes of Brilliant-Ruthless-Walter, which is even nicer.

It's almost like realizing that Angelus really is just that evil and seeing Boreanaz having a whole hell of a lot of fun.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Joshua Jackson is pretty good, but I think John Noble is fuelling this one all by himself. It's almost down to reaction shots from everyone else.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Doctor Who, ep 4: There were some genuinely terrifying moments in that. I screamed several times when Amy was watching the recording of the Angel. After that it felt like the Angels were being a little over-used, and becoming a bit less scary as a result. As with the Vashta Nerada, the less you see of Moffat's evil creatures, the more terrifying they are. Loved the 'stone hand' discussion between Amy and the Doctor. They're both starting to come into their own as characters.

In plot arc thoughts: River's seen many faces of the Doctor. How many seasons are they going to string us out for on this one? I'm too immature to deal with a mystery that's going to last for many seasons. (With the possible exception of LOST.) Where does she get all the info in the book from? I get that she's been collecting it a long time, but she seems to be discovering it along with the Doctor. And there's an awful lot of information in that little book. That said, she's awesome and I want her to come back often.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Dr. Who (The Beast Below): Loved it! It did take a while to get started, but as soon as Amy started snarking with the little girl about Scotland leaving Starship UK behind for its own and breaking out her set of lockpicks, I was on board. And Liz Ten does rule. I thought the idea of the Doctor being a running story in the ruling family's personal family history was great, going all the way back to Liz One ("As for the Virgin Queen? You naughty boy!"). Oh, and nice to find out that there hasn't been another Victoria (no numerical distinction for the 19th century one).

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Seska, regarding River's dairy: I don't think she's "discovering" any info in it. Rather, she's trying to piece together how it fits in his timeline. That is, she's trying to figure out what the Doctor knows and what he doesn't (because it hasn't happened to him yet).

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Actually, I think this is a good challenge/learning experience for Joshua Jackson, who is probably used to carrying everything with his charm. Peter is charming, but there is more, and John Noble is Brilliant.
