Even in her old job, Gwen couldn't have said, "I'm going to be working long hours preparing a raid on a big drug ring operating on the wharf." Just the long hours part.
All these speculations about dynamic guns-blazing cop things are making me giggle a bit. Not to say that Cardiff doesn't have a problem with drugs (I'm sure they do), but I keep remembering Gwen's nice blond partner in that first ep: "They should do CSI: Cardiff! It's be all about measuring the velocity of a flying kebab!"
Also, I'm so glad to hear Rhys is getting some love! I do heart Rhys enormously. (...er, my mental image of him tends to be as he's drumming out a tune on his arse, while meandering out the room butt-nekkid.) And, yes - much like my love for The Chief! (Except The Chief has a bit of SpyDaddyesque Do-Not-Fuck-With-Me going on, along with the whole cuddly teddybear thing, which is also v. v. v. hot.)
Whoa, I just saw the latest REAPER and if you hadn't told me that was Jamie Kennedy I NEVER would have known that. Also, Ray Wise gives good evil (though I think we knew that).
I recognized Jamie Kennedy immediately. I really don't like him, so I spent his scenes cringing and praying that he wouldn't start his schtick.

Fair enough, Fay -- I don't know much about Cardiff. (My Welsh ancestors came from Anglesey, but I don't know much about that area either.) But it isn't so much the guns blazing stuff. A lot of what law enforcement does is necessariliy secret, even from SOs.
