A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
CBS can keep Star Trek online because they own it. AMC has a license to stream The Prisoner, but if they want to keep it online forever they'll have to keep paying the rights-holders.
Oh! Thanks for the clarification. In that case, I will put the other shows I'm mainlining on hold and do
The Prisoner
posthaste!
But, if there's no cost, I'll DVR On Demand for the next few days.
Although this would be cool too, if there's no cost. Thanks for the heads-up. I keep forgetting that OnDemand has TV shows and sometimes for free.
I keep forgetting that OnDemand has TV shows and sometimes for free.
I keep forgetting I can record them.
Most TV shows are free, except for NBC. I can't remember where
The Prisoner
was, but if it's AMC it should be free.
Wasn't it implied (although never directly said) that McGoohan's character in The Prisoner was the same guy he played in Secret Agent?
There's a bit in the penultimate episode where Leo McKern calls Number 6 "Drake" which was his Secret Agent character, but you really need to be paying attention to catch it.
megan,
The Prisoner
is free OnDemand until November 30. Sweetness!
Some of it get's repetitious. IMO, the "must not skip" episodes are the first two, the last two, and "Living in Harmony" . I love the whole series, but have to admit some of the episodes are basically telling the same tale over and over again. Also when it comes to convoluted plans I wish both sides would follow one of the basic evil overlord rules: run all your schemes by a handy five year old, and repair any flaws he or she spots. Also if an opportunity comes up to strike a blow against the enemy, consult the same five year child and if he or she tells you it is a trap, listen.
I just watched the pilot. So far it seems like he's on the Island under the Dharma Initiative, and the smoke monster is played by a giant white balloon.
Don't know what the Dharma initiative is. Spoiler (well not really since this is a series from the sixties was broadcast NAFDA on PBS ) the White Balloon is named "Rover". I found the idea of an electroshock/vampire balloon still scary on rewatch. But I admit it is also silly.
I think that it's a Lost reference.
So apparently there's all sorts of controversy on episode order. Any recommendations on what order I should watch the episodes in?
You kids with your Lost. Offa my lawn! Be seeing you!
Rover is scarier in the new version. (Still fairly inexplicable as a choice of weapon, but definitely scarier.)
