The French Canadian way of mispronouncing my first name is one of the few I don't mind. And it's really not a pretty accent. I haven't heard a strong Parisian accent go at it.
How do they pronounce it? I ask because I always think of your name in French because I thought that was the basic pronunciation.
It just made me laugh because there were some names that really didn't work, like Gomez, but some, like Hamrlik and Kostitsyn, that were remarkably harmonious.
My name is pronounced exactly like the -ita in Rita or senorita, but the Quebecois pronunciation was much longer, more like ee-tuhh, sort of fading off. I pronounce it very crisply and with a definite 'a'.

Well, French has no lexical stress, so the two syllables should have equal weight.
