Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

the database they used in FF was spot on

It's not them I was quoting from--it was another URL I've now lost in the shrouds of time.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

FF: I just watched. I'm definitely liking this show, although I accidentally let last week's roll off the Tivo.

I'm glad the Nazi's initial Kabbalah thing was a red herring. I also am mildly amused at how they got played by verifying something that had absolutely nothing to do with his information; that happened after the blackout.

Anyway, predestination is such a funky concept. Even with all the different scenarios for what people saw, I think it's interesting how people would react if they saw something they thought to be a true prediction.

I mean, I'm the sort of person that dances across plazas in front of security cameras because the predictable flow of foot traffic unsettles me. I always think of Koyaanisqatsi.

So I think I am the type of person that would try to disrupt any prediction of my future, good or bad, just to be contrary. And surely there are some of those out there in the show world.

Inevitability. It's interesting.

re: Fringe.

I missed most of last season. What was the testing Olivia underwent as a child?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

So I think I am the type of person that would try to disrupt any prediction of my future, good or bad, just to be contrary.

Me too, Liese. It surprises me when people just accept what they perceive as their fate. (In reality as in fiction.)

They gave her (and many other children) experimental drugs to enhance their psychic powers, if I recall.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Also, if John Cho dies from getting shot in the chest? All he has to do is wear a bulletproof vest on that day.

I want to see people trying to circumvent their fate and fate laughing at them. Or something. Not six months of people accepting the inevitable.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Zombies! Zombies on Smallville.

Unless it's armor piercing rounds or a freak shot that hits near the armpit...or whatever it takes to make destiny work.

I hate the new Kate chick on Sanctuary. I don't like the writing and I think the actress is flat.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I'm assuming that he saw a body but didn't get a DNA test.

I'm assuming he got a DNA test using quickie-magic-TV-science. I thought I remembered that he had previously seen the remains but that they were unidentifiable.

Not sure what to make of Zoey saying she saw Demetri, though. Is she not to be believed? Or is this our first example of variant futures?

My take is that she saw *someone* in the distance and assumed it was Demitri. We couldn't make out the figures in her flash so why should she?

I want to see people trying to circumvent their fate and fate laughing at them. Or something. Not six months of people accepting the inevitable.

Indeed. I really wanted Demitri to arrest pothead-future-customs-agent guy.
