Xander: Am I right, Giles? Giles: I'm almost certain you're not. Though, to be fair, I haven't been listening.

'Sleeper'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

They showed that scene with Dr. Lee that made me think Rush had swapped with him. Though I too don't believe for a second that Jack put him in charge, it'd be like handing all the decisionmaking over to Rodney McKay in his forget-about-Teal'c-and-save-our-own-skins-Blondie phase.

DH is going to be on set on Tuesday. Anyone got a question they want answered?

Maybe if he bumps into Ming Na he could ask if her character on the series will have to struggle harder or go to more elaborate lengths to be taken seriously than the one she played in Mulan?

Compassionately intolerant

Yeah. I paid more attention that I should have and came away unimpressed. Despite my Full Monty Carlyle love, the cast seemed uber-generic and none of the plot points grabbed my interest.

feh.

I just finished watching all but about 5 episodes of SG-1 and am starting on Atlantis, though I seem to recall not liking it in the past.

Can't see tainting the fun memories with BSGU. Lamentations.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Flash Forward speculations: D. Gibbons kidnaps Charlie the daughter. Also, I'm suspicious of Cupcake!DGibbons and wondering if she's connected to Evil!DGibbons. It may be that the Gibbonses *wanted* to be found, so Cupcake Lady purposely gave them a made-up flash forward that would lead them to Evil Guy.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Cupcake Lady purposely gave them a made-up flash forward

I am unsure about the show's policy on the veracity of the flash forwards they show. I thought the guy who was IN A MEETING, OKAY, was meant to indicate that they will show us the truth, even if the character is lying about it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I read that SGU did better numbers than Dollhouse. But now Dollhouse is coming after two sitcoms, so not much traffic to capture and keep there. I wonder what the overlap is there.

Interesting point, P-C, but until we're sure, I'm sticking with my theory. It may be because those cupcakes looked cree-pee!

Watched SGU. I liked the kid - Eli?

They may be going for grit, but SGU is no BSG.

Did I see wrong, or did LDP's character get killed during the attack on the planet?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I guess he was only Mostly Dead?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I watched the SGU premiere and didn't hate it. My worry is that these are Stargate writers trying to do BSG, and I fear it will not go well in the long term.

Why? Why did I watch? Maybe it was the train wreck thing, or maybe I just have some secret fondness for the Stargate universe in spite of all the times I wanted to scream at the writers for various horrifying ideas and Not Getting It moments.

Eli irritated me far less than I expected, for which I applaud the actor. He could have so been the Wesley, and I found him somehow more human. That could change in an instant, of course. Ming Na... hardly appeared.

I really don't intend to stay for the unsettling things I've heard about, but I wanted to see how it opens. My main first impression, compared only with the other two series pilots, is that I really don't much care what happens to these people. Okay then.
