Xander: Am I right, Giles? Giles: I'm almost certain you're not. Though, to be fair, I haven't been listening.

'Sleeper'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

The medic seemed to get a fair share of screentime and focus, though I have no idea what exactly they're doing with her storyline.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

DH is going to be on set on Tuesday. Anyone got a question they want answered?

[eta: The SGU set, that is.]

I'm fully prepared to hate SGU and only have it on as background while I do other stuff but I have to say, the first few minutes addressed a long-standing itch of mine.

How, in all the galaxies, can people who are traveling eleventybillion light years an hour step out of the wormhole all upright and tidy? It makes SO much more sense to me that they would go from flying to stopping with some consequence.

Okay, the 'we'll beam you up to our spaceship' moment was pretty old-school funny.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

bonny, for heavens sake, don't make me watch the darn program to get the answer to that question.

In the first episode of Original SG, they stepped out of the wormhole all frosty. I guess they dropped that for convenience. It would have been an interesting little tidbit of pseudo-realism, though.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Why would they suddenly speed up in the wormhole? It makes fair sense to me that they'd come out at the speed they went in, since they aren't exactly moving physically once they're in it.

I'm assuming they were flung bodily out of this because of the ninth chevron or the planet about explode or because it was extra-gritty and walking out would be just too chipper.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

They seemed to be flying out with more and more force as the wormhole went on, so that may have something to do with the velocity with which they arrived.

I'm quite willing to believe that Dr Nick (I'm always goign to think of him that way in homage to the Simpsons ) lied about contacting Earth so he could say he was in charge.

This, I'm thinking, is the real answer.

Really? They aren't moving physically in the wormhole? I guess not, given the mere seconds they are in there. Still, when they did that swooshy camera thing in the old shows, I just assumed velocity.

Yeah, the dead-wife-therefore-nothing-to-go-home-for trope strikes again.

Yeah, this was a fake-out. ita's right. Conservation of energy - there's nothing in the wormhole to act upon them and speed them up - it's not like a slide - so they should come out at the same velocity they went in. (It might be more realistic for them to come out as spaghetti, but that would be a dull show. After the first few times, anyway.)

That would make for an awesome reality show, though, if I got to choose the participants.

I watched the first hour of SGU and recorded the second. Things that I found more enticing than watching the second half of SGU today: going to the post office, cleaning packing peanuts off my carpet, hauling potting soil, moving bricks, and staring at bugs with my cat.

It's in the same time slot as Dollhouse and, barring a major disconnect between me and my Friday media night group, I suspect it's going to lose to Eliza et al.

I'm glad Sancutary is coming back. I really liked the last 4 or 5 episodes of last season.
