Zoe: Don't think it's a good spot, sir. She still has the advantage over us. Mal: Everyone always does. That's what makes us special.

'Serenity'

Firefly 5: That's my girl... That's my good girl.

when i die, please bake my ashes into a brick and use me to hit fascists.

I don't buy the premise that Zoe would not immediately go rescue Mal . Hm indeed.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

a little-known science fiction show from Joss Whedon called Firefly. The series gained a cult status when it hit DVD the following year

Thanks to weeks of us and other Firefly fans smoking the wires with calls to the "What TV Series Would You Most Like to See on DVD?" 1-800 number, plus repeated calls and visits to local DVD stores, "Do you have Firefly on DVD?" to convince Fox to make the boxed set happen.

Also, Zoe's *second* mate? WTF's on first?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Ha, I skimmed right past that "second mate" business. @@ Hopefully it's just in this write-up and not in the novel...

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I just started it. Here's hoping River's "[edited because I am a dumbass] on the brain" is not a persistent metaphor.

I forgot how much I like Brust. Honestly kind of forgot he existed and it has been kind of surreal reviewing titles and covers and realizing I must have devoured half his library when I was somewhere between 16-21 and then I just went on to my next author.

At some point a decade or two ago I just got hopelessly confused about which Brust titles I had read and which I hadn't and just kind of hit pause on him. Still telling myself I will figure it out someday and resume.

No spoilers I'm only on page 110 but I'm just wondering if we know whether anyone has adapted the plot of this Brust novel into a Mission for the Firefly board game. I think it could be a lot of fun.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

The Expanse s6e6 had a nice Firefly style crew-gathered-at-the-dining-table scene.
