I go online sometimes, but everyone's spelling is really bad. It's... depressing.

Spike's Bitches 38: Well, This Is Just...Neat.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Now I know why we were talking about the Apocalypse. I just saw my first five minutes of "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" and it's clearly a sign of the apocalypse. There must be be a fifth horseman of Stupid.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You know him ita? Is that his voice?

I haven't seen him in years, Burrell, but the article does read like he was then.

I'm not sure where the reduction lies--is he reducing grupsters, or saying they've reduced themselves to objects and symbols?

What does differentiate one generation from the next? Maybe we're so ideologically aimless that music taste is something to latch onto.

I'm getting the pig!

Cashmere, congratulations on surviving the huge cell phone bill. Gah! I think I would've keeled over dead if I saw that amount on my bill.

Said in GWW but I just have to say it again - YAY Jilli!! I'm so happy for you. And Pete gets to play, too. Woot!

Yay vw!! Such amazing progress from an amazing person.

All of this good news and all I have to offer is that I finally finished my vacation to-do list this afternoon. And then I took a nap. BUT - I have conquered my filthy home and it is now cleaner and more organized than ever. Yay!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Just got off the phone with my boss, who has been running around all day in the wake of my resignation being scarily helpful. He spent the afternoon talking with one of the admin heads in Surgery, where they need an administrator for the postdoc fellowship program. After talking with my boss, the admin head now really really wants to see my resume. With my seniority at the uni, if they wanted me I'd likely start at 10-12K/year more than I'm making now (at least 5K more than I've just accepted). And all the hassles that lie ahead with the messy Emmett/Matilda commute would disappear, and there'd be continuity of health plan and retirement benefits, and, and...

But I already accepted! I haven't signed off on it, but I emailed them an acceptance of the offer! I'd be going back on my word!

I love my boss dearly, and Lord knows the offer I've got isn't quite the offer I was hoping for, but now it feels like he's put me in a position where I'll feel like a dick no matter what I do.

not your mom's socks.

JZ - you need to take the job that's really right for you (trust me on this, and see my post above). Long term, if you take a job that's half working, you'll only be half-working (again, see. post. above. Actually, about 3k fo them ...) and you might be wishing elsewhere. Yes, you accepted - but you're not there yet and I am sure this sounds awful, but I had someone decline a position I had open after she'd accepted it and it was ok - because I knew it was the right decision for her. I don't know what the contractual issues are, and someone else should speak to that, but it sounds as if they are going miles above to keep you, now that they know, and finding a space that pays what you need it to. You need to make sure it's for real, of course, but why not look into it?

I look more rad than Lutheranism

But I already accepted! I haven't signed off on it, but I emailed them an acceptance of the offer! I'd be going back on my word!

JZ, they can find someone else. You explicitly asked them for more money, and they couldn't come up on it (even though they were nice about it).

Your family's needs are more important than making a potential employer happy. Because this:

I'd likely start at 10-12K/year more than I'm making now (at least 5K more than I've just accepted). And all the hassles that lie ahead with the messy Emmett/Matilda commute would disappear, and there'd be continuity of health plan and retirement benefits, and, and...

is about what's best for not just you, but your whole family.

Just my .02.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

JZ - why do you work

1) money

if your lucky there are other things you get from work . Sometimes, you even feel what you do is important. I know that you don't love your job - your job is not the center of your life. So, honestly, you have to pick the best job for you. or you and your family. Yes, it is insane that they are suddenly running around like chickens with their heads cut off - but people are stupid and sometimes, the fact that they are paying you makes them more stupid. However, other people being stupid means you just have to be smart. the only plus from the other job was a possible forward career path - that you are only vaguely interested in. your family's comfort was your goal and the new job was an incremental inch - this could be a jump.

feel free to ignore my thoughts

whoo hoo, vw! ( and I did notice less panic )

and yay for Jilli

agreeing x-posts

now I get to run downtown and listen to matt play Jazz.

Before he heads to CO. Tomorrow. Because we are going on vacation starting on the 6th. The HDVM ( Hardware detection vacation modual - which knows when Matt is trying to take time off from work and brakes major hardware) is working very well. Joy

It's nice to see some brave pretenders trying to make it interesting.

JZ, I agree with the xposts.
