It's interesting and has some great points, but I found it kind of preachy and self-righteous overall. I think I resist any source that tells me one approach is better or more natural than another. For Halloween (actually, the day before) S decided our cat should have a costume, and put a bowtie on him. We figured that, like the bandanas, hats, and other random items of clothing we've tried to put on him for a larf, he would not like it, and just try to get it off as soon as possible.

Well, not only did he not try to take it off, he really liked wearing it. So much so that he doesn't like it when S tried to take the tie off of him, and when he wasn't wearing it for a day, he pawed at the bowtie on the table, and then stared at S until she put it back on him.

Our cat likes to wear bowties. And when he wears them, he gets a look on his face like "I am an important cat. I must be an important cat, because I have a bowtie. See?"

One of my friends sent me a picture of her cat wearing a tiara . . . for Halloween - but she looked like it was something she was born to do.

My cat LOOVES necklaces. Actually, bracelets worn as necklaces, but still. I'll hold it open, and she'll stick her neck in it!

Even if its every single guy's fantasy, lots of things are great fantasies without necessarily being great realities.

Of the "things I've done" conversations with friends, I'd say at least half the time people are not thrilled with their threesomes. There is the "performance" thing, the "left out thing", "just weird," "not what I expected"... things like that.

Even if you REALLY want to do it, there's things you might want to do casually but not in your marriage.

I have to admit that I read only a few chapters of it, so I can't really recommend the whole book; just the first few chapters. (Dorky attempt at a joke.)

I didn't find what I read to be preachy, but then, I'm also not poly or poly-curious. Maybe if I were poly, the book would have come off as preachy to me. (Lord knows enough kink books have that One True Way tone, and they make me want to heave.)

Still, I think that The Ethical Slut can be helpful as a sort-of guidebook (not rules; *guidelines* t /PotC ), especially for people who think they're poly but don't know what the best next step to take is.
