I had a delicious giant salad but am FREEZING and wishing i had a big bowl o' soup. Maybe i'll go out and get some tea.
I made lemony quinoa, roasted brussel sprouts, and steak w/ a red wine reduction sauce last night. Yum. The steak was kind of tough but cooked to just the right doneness for me...even though I couldn't remember the parts of hand test (and I really don't cook meat much so it's always confusing to me).
lisah, we were totally almost dinner twins last night!
She was on the Trader Joe's organic free-range crack?
Yeah, or else she's a vegetarian who can't cook, so her standards are really really low.
My cousin is a landlord who owns a bunch of properties in our little podunk hometown. He says he gives the security deposit back unless the damage is more than would be fixed by what they normally do between renters. They deep-clean, and fill in nailholes and re-paint, and replace the carpet, anyway. After he told me that, I quit fretting about leaving apartments pristine, and I've always gotten my deposit back.
Yeah, I was really worried because I didn't have time to really clean my place in MD before I left and I just gave it a cursory cleaning. My landlord said he had never seen a cleaner place. Some people must be so bad that any attempt looks better in comparison.
I've eaten Polish once, and a friend turned to me, gestured at the plate and said "Isn't this why they left Poland?" It's about the only cuisine I've written off in majority. Most everything else has something I like or love. Don't even want to try again with Polish food.
I wonder what you had, because much of what people I know consider to be Polish food are things like kielbasa and pierogies (which I love, but are really foods that "poor" people made traditionally). On the higher end there are things like roasted meats with dried fruits that are quite tasty. My favorite dish is Bigos, which is a hunter's stew with pork, sauerkraut, and potatoes. I also love fruit pierogies for dessert (which are served with sweet cream on top). Luckily I now happen to live next to a great Polish restaurant.
The Only Clock You’ll Ever Need
Perfect for work (if you get off at five).
I had TJ's chicken potstickers for lunch. Not extra-fabulous, but certainly tasty enough for a quick lunch.
Our landlords, unfortunately, are VERY anal and already did an hour walkthrough with me to point out what we needed to do in order to get our deposit back. After washing all the windows inside and out and washing the walls, they better fucking give it back, is all I'm saying.
I had pumpkin pie w/ freshly whipped cream, tapenade and ricotta on crusty bread, salt and pepper potato chips, and chocolate chip cookies for lunch. A co-worker brought in the leftovers from a party he had over the weekend. YUM!
I made broccoli/bleu cheese soup last night. It is completely of the yum.
Time for lunch!!
