It's good to have cargo. Makes us a target for every other scavenger out there, though, but sometimes that's fun too.

I've pet a shark.

They have very rough skin, don't they?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm unduly psyched for this weekend's intro to pole dancing class.

Apparently when one of the krav employees went, the class before her emptied and four women in krav shirts poured out. I don't know what it is, but when I asked one of the guys who runs the school if he can put poles up, there was a disturbing glint of the eye to his assent.

What you might want after you have begun a Level 1 Session:
  • Workout shorts
  • Dancer's thong/g-string
  • Push-up bra
  • T-shirt or short dress
  • Six-inch platform heels -- yes, six inch!!!

Music: this is the wave you ride your routine on. Choose three songs that you love, current, from your childhood or whatever inspires you. You can strip to anything from Bing Crosby to Jay-Z to Sigur Ros. No music is off limits. For your first session, choose something on the very slow side.
  • That just cracks me up.

I'm sure there's a big argument to be made both for and against pole dancing from an oh-so-serious sexual politics point of view, but mostly it makes me laugh and is like nothing I've done before, so I have to know.

    You need a new haircut!

Maybe I do! But I won't be able to get one until the end of the month (my birthday cut).

Why did I go back to read the Bush incident that Shrift commented on? Don't I despise the guy more than humanly possible already?

    You need a new haircut!

This reminds me that I probably should get my hair chopped again before next weekend. It's getting long enough that I'm losing my curl, man.

They have a spot for curriculum vita[sic] AND resume. Am I supposed to upload both? or the same document twice? I mean, is there a meaningful difference?

Pretty late on this, but Meara is right. A resume is a brief description of your qualifications and goals. A Vita is an archival record of your academic life (hence the name). Mine lists every course I've taught, every paper I've published, and every conference presentation I've made. It's 24 pages long. It would make a terrible resume.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm excited because I just figured out that I can get a haircut sometime soonish. I was thinking I wanted one, but then thinking that was stupid, because it hasn't been that long, but it's been two months already! Which, I often go longer than that, but in the summer I need it thinned out SO BAD.
