Rick, am I misremembering or are you up Minnesota way?
I grew up in Minnesota but don't live there now. All of my peole are ok. Still, the familiarity of the bridge (it's right on the U of Minnesota campus) is making the tragedy more powerful for me.
Many sympathies, Erin and family.

Am I overreacting, or is this woman kind of a twit? The article has pictures.
Jennifer Cohen thought she had a good understanding of her company's policy allowing business casual attire. So the 24-year-old was stunned when an older colleague pulled her aside to tell her she was dressing inappropriately by donning Bermuda shorts, sleeveless tops and capris.
"Each generation seems to have a different idea of what is acceptable in the workplace, and in this situation I was highly offended," says Cohen, who works at a marketing firm in Philadelphia. "I was actually not allowed to attend a meeting because my attire was deemed 'inappropriate.' People my age are taught to express themselves, and saying something negative about someone's fashion is saying something negative about them."

is this woman kind of a twit?
Yes. The self-important kind.
She is deffinately a twit.
On the other hand, I like to express myself by taking two and a half hour lunches every day. My generation was taught that its part of who we are to go to the gym, have a nice salad with some friends, and maybe look at some shoes. t /Carrie Bradshaw
Happy anniversary to MM and The Empress! Yes, today is also our elopmaversary.
Our real estate agent gave us a house-warming present--a cool fountain! She is an avid gardener, and she and her husband, who designs and builds sets for commercials, have an amazing mid-century retro house. She had heard what we liked about her yard when we were over, and they bought us a fountain and plants to plant around it. So thoughtful. And it will go far to help us avoid the fact that the entire yard is cemented over and that someday we have to sledgehammer it up.
That woman is a twit.
However, I still get confused by the no t-shirt rule. Does this mean one can only wear button downs, or are "dressy" t-shirts OK?
