Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

I remember being in a room with somebody from Universal who told me Doom was their real baby as it was better than Serenity. My soul died a little in that moment.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

"Just once, it would be great to see him play a spiteful neurotic or a selfish bastard,"

Yeah, he did that in Stephen King's Dreamcatcher and that godawful Chain Reaction movie with Keanu Reeves. Not encouraging me to see him try it again if it comes bundled in movies of that quality. Freeman is kind of an American Michael Caine, always turning in great performances that are the best parts of about 10 different crappy movies a year.

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

Now tagless for your comfort.

It is, tiggy. We watched it a few weeks back and enjoyed the movie. I thought it was very well done.

Yeah, tell it to William Golding, Pembleton.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

people really are the scariest thing about living in this world, aren't they?

Yes. This is why I spend a lot of time at home. *shudder* I don't want to watch Zodiac.

Hey. New board.

Finally saw Across the Universe yesterday. I'm pretty sure I liked it. Parts of it didn't work exactly, and I did some confused blinking at certain plot points, but I liked the feel and the random Scenes of the Trippy. Also, it turns out I haven't heard an awful lot of Beatles songs.

Evan Rachel Wood is still a good actress, though she didn't get to showcase her awesomeness as much in this as in some of her previous films. The dude who played her British boy was also pretty great, with some of the same charm that Ewan brought to Moulin Rouge.
