"This world would be perfect, Tim, if it was nothing but kids and dogs." --"God's Detective" Frank Pembleton (/ Homicide likes carrots) Haven't seen Zodiac yet...it's in my queue.
Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
It is, tiggy. We watched it a few weeks back and enjoyed the movie. I thought it was very well done.
"This world would be perfect, Tim, if it was nothing but kids and dogs."Yeah, tell it to William Golding, Pembleton.
Yeah...maybe the Jesuits never covered that one.

Yes. This is why I spend a lot of time at home. *shudder* I don't want to watch Zodiac.
My sister saw Game Plan today and she actually enjoyed it.
Finally saw Across the Universe yesterday. I'm pretty sure I liked it. Parts of it didn't work exactly, and I did some confused blinking at certain plot points, but I liked the feel and the random Scenes of the Trippy. Also, it turns out I haven't heard an awful lot of Beatles songs.
Evan Rachel Wood is still a good actress, though she didn't get to showcase her awesomeness as much in this as in some of her previous films. The dude who played her British boy was also pretty great, with some of the same charm that Ewan brought to Moulin Rouge.
All the lost footage has been found and is included in the new director's cut of Blade Runner. Ridley Scott answers The Question in no uncertain terms in this NYT article.
I always thought the film works better thematically if the opposite were true.
I thought the film works best if the question is never answered. The distinction becomes meaningless as sufficiently-advanced technology becomes indistinguishable from magic, you know?
Also, Ridley Scott is approaching Lucasfilm levels of tinkering. Let's hope no cute furry beasts show up in the new version.
