Oooh, was I was watching that scene, I thought to myself, I wish I knew boxing history better because this could be significant later. Thanks for the mini-lesson.
Cable Drama: Still Waiting for the Cable Guy to Show Up with the Thread Name...
To be determined... (but it's definitely [NAFDA])
I'll admit that I had to turn to wikipedia for the exact dates -- but, yeah, Clay is just the kind of 1964 cultural moment we were talking about, and, of course, set to be an even bigger deal later in the 1960s.
Well then, thanks for doing the Wikipedia work that I intended to do, but forgot. Clay came to my mind in that moment as well.
MI-5 series 6 is coming out on dvd on January 20th.
(BTW, did you guys hear that MI-6 is recruiting via facebook? I think I heard that on the Rachel Maddow show.)
Just saw the latest Mad Men (instead of the debate). Nothing new to add, but I love this show.
Oh, crap. The creepy kid is back.
yeah, no shit. I hope we don't see him again until he is fully adult.
Me neither.
Oddball episode for me. All about the isolation of everyone. Or maybe about the different facades. Can't decide.
Was that the same actress playing Glen's mom?
Was that the same actress playing Glen's mom?
She looked different, didn't she? I thought it was just the hair and makeup, but now I'm not sure.
Poor ol' Glenn. He's just going to come back creepier every two years and be a full on psycho menace stalker-rapist by 1968.
Yeah, this ep left me feeling kind of meh. I felt it was one of the weakest episodes from a writing standpoint. The only reason they brought Glenn back was to ultimately give Betty the one confidante who might have a prayer of understanding. The show's usually more subtle with things like that-- although I will admit to a pang when she confided that the kids were wondering what was suddenly making them more special since Don was taking them out to dinners and such.
And maybe I was just tired, but Pete and Peggy's conversation seemed really bizarre and again, like the only point of it was for Peggy to say, "It's hard for everyone, Pete." I'll have to go back and rewatch.
Kinsey's a pretentious ass. Nothing new there.
And Roger really is a clueless dolt. I get this uneasy feeling that they're setting Joan and Don up for something.
