Buffy: He ran away, right? Giles: Sort of, more. turned and swept out majestically, I suppose. Said I didn't concern him. Buffy: So a mythic triumph over a completely indifferent foe? Giles: Well, I'm not dead or unconscious, so I say bravo for me.

'Same Time, Same Place'

Boxed Set, Vol. IV: It's always suicide-mission this, save-the-planet that.

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I am bereft that my stupid cable box did not change the channel, so I got four hours of those annoying food network specials (not the cooking shows, shit like Disney holiday!)

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

because she may be my new celebrity crush

Heh. Get in line...

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

...so, anyone seen the Doctor Who Christmas Special?

Um. Because I am easily manipulated and a sap, it made me cry. Even though I knew it was trying to. It still did.

Also? Wow. Totally cracktastic.

All is well that ends in pizza.

I Ahemed it, and Windsparrow and I just watched it.

The Whitefont can commence.

I think Russel Davies has a penchant for killing people at Christmas.

It was like Starship Titanic and the Posiden Adventure mixed with James Bond.

Oh, balls. I meant to ahem the DW Christmas Special last night, but I forgot.

Our wings are not tired.

Also? Wow. Totally cracktastic.

Clearly braindead here because I forgot to obtain this. Correcting this error right now. I need a Who fix.

Oh, I need to remember to get that tonight. All about the crack.

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

I must be dead inside because i wasn't all that thrilled with any of it.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Oh, no, tiggy, not at all - I should perhaps have contextualised my "I cried" comment. I can be reduced to tears by my school's weekly assembly and by adverts, never mind storytelling. And even whilst I knew that RTD was doing that classic Stephen King make-them-like-the-character-then-kill-them thing, I still liked the fat couple, and was very sad when Mr Fat Bloke died. He was so endearing about the whole phone bill thing. And, you know, I can't overstate the whole business of my people being in genre telly. Because I am a geek, and 99.9% of all Scifi TV/Cinema is full of Americans, so people who sound normal are just such a delightful aberration that they get a lot of extra brownie points from the get-go.

It's not great telly, by any manner of means. It's cracktastic, and very flawed - but also, you know, Doctor Who is what we all grew up with. And - my people!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'd argue that it occasionally rises to the level of great television, as in the case of "Blink" and some of the 9th Doctor episodes.
