A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

tiggy, I definitely had mixed emotions about it. There were too many times when I could see the strings that RTD was using to tug on the hearts of viewers, which is a huge no-no for me. That was what made me walk out in the middle of Fellowship of the Ring. But there were moments when the rollicking good adventure of it carried me through.

I am still highly amused by the Dawn's in trouble, it must be Tuesday "It's Christmas, Aliens must be invading" attitude. I also wonder if Queen Victoria's banishment of the Doctor has been rescinded by Queen Elizabeth, or if those things have a time limit. Then again there is the thought that no one would bother to enforce such a thing a century or more after the original banishing.

I'd argue that it occasionally rises to the level of great television, as in the case of "Blink" and some of the 9th Doctor episodes.

I agree with Matt on this. It has its moments. Like Star Trek, it has been and can be horribly cheesy and/or preachy; it can also reach the sublime.

Our wings are not tired.

Doctor Who: What's not to love! Creepy angels ! Titanic and Poseidon Adventure and heroic sacrifice! Batting halos! Heart achy Doctor ascending with the angels! Queen in hair curlers! Only Britain is Great! Um, yeah I thought it was all good Doctor Who fun.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Doctor Who:

I enjoyed it, but they really need to dial back the cheese a notch or two. Also, does RTD have some sort of maid fetish?

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I want to highlight the whitefont above. Very intriguing. But, I will refrain!

And now for something completely different, I bring you [link] The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins. Nimoy style.

The Ahem of Stargate: The Ark of Truth is out there. It's a very large file, but not high quality.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Ah, yes - The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins. Love that.

DW: I hated hated hated hated HATED the reworking of the theme tune. The Sound of Drums, indeed.

The rest was OK. It pushed all the buttons. But yeah, they need to dial back the soapiness and the "romance". Actually, judging by the preview, that's what they're aiming for with Donna. "I need a mate" - as in a buddy, not a partner, I'm assuming.

The preview did virtually nothing for me, but then I think I need to rewatch it. Hard to distinguish the different scenes/villains. Quite a lot of nice familiar faces, though, including Martha's. And Bernard Cribbins! I wonder if he's playing the same character as in the Christmas special or somebody else...?
