The thing is, the bit with the gnome does help explain just what the hell Teatime is trying to do.
Yeah, but they did 3 separate incidents of about five minutes each to get that in. They could have had had random remarks produce the gnome,fairy and thing all in the space of 30 seconds, have them right in the room, and had them figure it out. Don't know know about the god; they actually could have lost that entire subplot (including the romance),but I have to admit that there really was no other way to leave it in than the way they did.
Incidentally, they caught Susan absolutely dead right. I need to look that actress's name, because she may be my new celebrity crush.

I am bereft that my stupid cable box did not change the channel, so I got four hours of those annoying food network specials (not the cooking shows, shit like Disney holiday!)

Oh, no, tiggy, not at all - I should perhaps have contextualised my "I cried" comment. I can be reduced to tears by my school's weekly assembly and by
adverts,
never mind storytelling. And even whilst I knew that RTD was doing that classic Stephen King make-them-like-the-character-then-kill-them thing, I still liked the fat couple, and was very sad when Mr Fat Bloke died. He was so endearing about the whole phone bill thing. And, you know, I can't overstate the whole business of
my people
being in genre telly. Because I am a geek, and 99.9% of all Scifi TV/Cinema is full of Americans, so people who sound normal are just such a delightful aberration that they get a lot of extra brownie points from the get-go.
It's not great telly, by any manner of means. It's cracktastic, and very flawed - but also, you know,
Doctor Who
is what we all grew up with. And - my people!
